Area 51 - 2005 game

Does anyone in here remmeber a game called Area 51? any fans or anyone that remmebers? this game does have a pc verison, so it could be added. but if theres any fans out there, help me find the studio that owns the rights to this game, this game right's has been changed a few times, different studios. so im just wondering if anyone remmebers this game or a fan? lemme know, if you dont then dont say no or somthing. only reply if you remmeber

Area 51?
I knew of the light gun game (totally seperate game).
That was a money guzzling arcade cabinet ported over to Playstation.

However, the one I played on my PC back in the day was this one:

A fps with voice acting by David Duchovny and Marilyn Manson?
Personally I enjoyed it's campaign since it did a few things differently for your average fps back then.

Sure it wasnt quite up there with Medal of Honour Allied Assault, or the old ID / Raven games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
But it scratched an itch.

It was just about enough for a quick fix without being too average or predictable.

Fun Fact:
I bought a retail disc at a car boot sale for 50 pence as it looked fancy at the time and funnily enough the big yellow star shaped label on the front proclaiming Marilyn Manson ! David Duchovny !! as voice actors seemed like a big deal at the time.

Anyway, that game had a less well received sequel, Black Site: Area 51 which was not so hot.
And I bought that disc, again retail, but this time on Amazon for full price.

And almost instantly regretted it.

For anyone interested in playing it - the game was made freely downloadable.

There also a patch and a number of issues resolved at the pcgamingwiki site, along with a download link for the game.

The download link takes you to some flavour of File Planet, God - is that place still a thing?
I used to get so many demos and patches from there a long time ago.

Brain Pains, in my memory ( i have detailed files ), the sequel was possibly more upsetting to me because I enjoyed the original so much and was under the illusion that sequel = better every time.

The first game was in some ways ahead of its time like Terminator 2 when it was released.

But the sequel was more akin to the horror of heroically facing down a factory fresh 800 infiltrator series, sweat, bad breath - the works...

... with the slow dawning realisation that your would be opponent is not a mere man, but is in fact living tissue slapped over a demonically grinning metal skeleton, being created and optimised to end you.
It is death rendered in steel.

And that you in fact have at your disposal practically useless tools with which to complete your mission, let alone survive to tell the tale.

And so, much like the Black Site sequel -

It can't be bargained with.
It can't be reasoned with.
It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear.
And it absolutely will not stop. Ever.

Until you are dead...

Same. I felt like I was finishing Blacksite: Area 51 just for the sake of finishing the game, hoping there was some inkling of Area 51 (2005) in it, and I was disappointed in the end. Never went back to play it a second time.

I believe Warner Bros. re-registered Blacksite: Area 51's trademark in 2017... Nothing for the 2005 version of A51 though.

Funny, the other day I was considering re installing the original Area 51 retail disc that I have stashed away someplace.

Thing is, it would also require my USB dvd drive as I have not used physical discs for years.
And that too is stashed away someplace.

I think I will look on Steam or Gog first though.
Might be better that way.
And quicker.

A remaster could have my money, something along the lines of Black Mesa or the remakes from Night Dive Studios would be neat.
