Is the new SimCity worth playing yet?
I purchased the new SimCity the day it came out. I played it for about for or five hours and I stopped because it was so broken. Connection issues extremely small building areas etc. Does anyone know if the game is worth playing now. With patches etc. I'm asking so I don't re-download and waste my time. I'm a huge fan of city building and simulation games. Cities XL is great and SimCity 4 was one of the best.

Don't feel bad, you are not alone with feeling let down by the new SC.
There are alot of bugs fixed on the new one, but you still are limited with small cities, limited highway usage, always-online, etc. Maybe you should have a look around on the forum for SC2013. As for the topic, I couldn't tell you, I just know that nothing comes close to SC4.
On the bright side, you can find a spot in the server quicker/easier now on SC2013.

You're right. Kind of new to the forums even though I have been a Steam member for a while now. And yes that's funny. I was so looking forward to the new SimCity. It turned into some like commercial crap. The building areas are extremely small. The freeway system sucks. What a letdown after all these years. SimCity 4 was such a good game I spent hours months years on the game LOL. I'm sure you can get into a server now because no one plays it. Oh well I guess I will stay with Cities XL. The game that SimCity should've been. Thanks for the info.

I gave it another go a couple of weeks back, still no good but they've released more dlc D: I might pick up XL now.

Glad they are going offline now. Might be little late, but better than never. I have a sporadic internet connection here, as do many people I know. Multiplayer, even on simulation (non-fps) games is a no-go. They still need bigger cities, we have easily 10x computational power we did on avg when SC4 was released 10+ years ago... and I am still playing SC4 because... why build a tiny hamlet with fancy GFX when I can have a bustling Megalopolis. I enjoy designing the highway networks of SC4's NAM mod more than anything, so.... SC2013 is a pass for me either way. When they get bigger cities, and find out how to code highways into thier game for user-design... then I will consider it - but for now, I'll keep my money. The game could be whatever it wants, if it's not on Steam, or it requires an internet connection if it's store-bought then it's a no-go. There are alot of (admittedly maybe not as fussy) folks like myself who don't have a stable internet connection at all times. I like Steam because I only have to connect once a month. That, to me, is fantastic.
In my town they still bang rocks and sticks together to make internet. The local DSL hub is powered by a hamster... admittedly an old one too. What happens when that one goes?

Even with offline and bigger regions 2013 was still disappointing, the restrictions they've put on mods now are the final straw. Though they're on a different scale I'm more interested in Stonehearth and Banished now.

Out of all honestly... as nice as this new Simcity is...
I have Simcity 4 + NAM and Gnomoria here, not feeling at a loss. The shiney new Simcity needs to go bigger, with more options like NAM is for SC4. I just don't find fun in a constricted small town. If you like large tile cities on SC4 you will be dissapointed on the new one.
