I'm looking for a few games for my girls (11 and 10 years old) which are girl orientated.

For starters, what kind of games do your kids like? Simulation? Casual? Adventure? P.S: Don't look for girl oriented games. Find games that both genders can enjoy.

Op i suggest you get portal for them,the game is AAA and it doesnt have any violence,its also very funny game,not to mention this game trains the brain,its a rly good puzzle game,i bet they will like it,good luck!

tribes ascend has violence but it's with laser guns and you go so fast you can't even see it

It gets incredibly frustrating to constantly be belittled and made fun of because of your gender.

Meh, it's ok. We all have bad days. Believe me, I know the feeling being female, but it's simply society doing what society does best: perpetuate and cement illusions into everyone's heads of what reality is like. When I think of what I liked at age 10-11, I'm fairly sure I was rigorously programmed by that age to prefer barbie, horses, pink stuff, etc. over "boy stuff". And so I did love those things, and the trend is supposed to continue into adulthood where you discover that 'women's spheres' are cooking, shopping, scrapbooking, hello kitty, hair and makeup obsession, and clothing (especially shoes).

Of course, it didn't work at all on me, as I hate shopping, my favourite games these days are horror games and shooters, and I wouldn't be caught scrapbooking without a gun pointed at me. ;)

I suppose it's a bit like the whole gender colour thing. Every decoration and blanket and baby-to-be product you can buy is either pink for girls, or blue for boys. We're imprinted with stupid crap like this from birth. So when I saw the OP asking specifically for 'girl oriented' games ... guess what came to mind.

It's true, though, outside of a few 'gender targeted' games, most games are essentially genderless.


OP: Try Beat Hazard, it's no more violent than an arcade-like game such as Asteroids (which is resembles to some degree), you can use any music you own or like, and it can be played single or multiplayer. I've put almost 1100 hours into it already and I never get bored with it.

The sims games :).
Especially the Sims 3, there's alot of options to choose from and it's not rated M, it's rated T for Teen.

I would buy them some strategy games, because they can train your brain. Not Company of Heroes, of course. Maybe ANNO 1404. That's peaceful game. Or something more historical accurate, like the first Rome: Total War or Age of Empires II. I don't think they will learn much history from those, but playing the games can raise their interest in history.
My next tip would be Rayman: Origins or Legends. The whole family can have fun playing the games. Or they can play them with their friends. I think those games may improve their reflexes.

Do you own a 360 controller? Cuz "Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons" is a great puzzle-solving adventure game relatable to anyone with a sibling!

Also here's another really good game it's not a flash game like the girls go games one it's a dating sim witch I actully want to play it's called "Long live the queen" you can find it on steam it's flipping amazing from what I've seen in videos
