this is no way to conduct a business
Apparently Best Buy Canada and Walmart Canada don't sell Desktop PC's anymore in store , only online and possibly 3rd party distribution now with them , my 80 neighbour has no cellphone or smartphone and he ended up buying a refurbished lenovo thinkcentre from amazon.ca and it was from 2011 and had Windows 10 Pro, he went to hook up the tower and it was in the Windows 10 set up window, it asked for a cellphone/smartphone with SMS text messaging to set up his windows for the SMS security text

he called lenovo tech and they said the hardware and software support expired on his PC and they couldn't help, he has the phone number for Microsoft unsure if he called them, he's going to call amazon next for help!..

He told me well shopping over the phone (he has a landline phone only) that both Best Buy Canada and Walmart Canada only sell laptop's in store and no desktops at all!..

You cant sell everything online, there are elder people that have no clue how to shop online and where and not everyone uses smartphones, they well lock out at least 35% of the market making PC sell-able online only, bad business practice having everything sold online exclusively with PC's

Someone needs to have full PC's in store's to sell still for those that can't shop online or use a cellphone's and smartphone's, this is unfair business practice having PC desktops exclusively sold online and not just the rent to own furniture store's that sell crappy computers

The 80 neighbour uses his PC to shop for grocery's with Walmart online and to watch youtube and amazon prime on it, his ACER PC had Window 7 on it and was about twenty years old he said, his ACER PC died last week, he had no windows recovery disc for his PC and it was stuck on the BIO's screen asking for a recovery disc

He can just send it back to amazon and buy another one.

he said he might have to do that and he'll get a laptop as a last resort

You could always just make a bootable USB for him.
Sounds like a trip to Micro Center in the US or Canada Computers.... being 80 years old, you may want to install Fedora Silver Blue as an operating system, set up anti malware DNS...

Don't troll me craigsters, you will pay the price.

I don't think he really needs to even add SMS number, I think that's just a skipable security layer for your MS account.
You could also build a really powerful pi with a debian immutable OS that would do streaming, banking.... almost game with them now...

it wouldn't skip that page we tried

I even inputted my cellphone into his PC and windows wouldn't give me the SMS security text message to set up his windows, my cell number might be tied to my PC and Microsoft is just to secure cautious with cell numbers

I'm on a fixed income of Disability and can't afford to buy him a PC, saving for living room furniture myself right now and currently setting on plastic patio chair with lots of cushion's, I only have a quarter of the funds saved towards new living room furniture , I have a razor gaming chair with Lumbar Support I paid $700 for with amazon and it supper uncomfortable to sit in and is used for dropping point now for clothes etc

I'll mention the link to him they'll thanks
