Spinal tap is a mockumentary film. I was going to say the band wasn't real but apparently they did actually tour? Some people still say they're fake, idk. All I can really say with confidence is everyone can actually play instruments as well as their roles need.

They or at least the writers went on tour with different bands for material.

Saxon was one of them and they said they were told these guys are doing some research for a documentary.

When Spinal Tap was released the ♥♥♥♥ ups that happened in different Rock bands was in the film - getting lost on the way to the stage happened to Saxon iirc.

fascinating. i did a little research. so it is being like a fake (maybe) band made for a film? and the whole "joke" is whether or not the film (and band) are real?
