How to make a computer room feel homely or cosy.
There is a desk and some cables and a lamp and some furniture. The room has a wood floor and is approximately 3x4 metres. I want to put a TV in the room and some seating arrangement. I want to keep my computer in this room but the desk is quite oppressive in its height and greedy demands. I could use folding partitions to break the room up, but it isn't a large room. I am also open to possible alternatives to PC gaming without a standard computer desk.

Murals I found very nice.
Have one I look at all day of a waterfall in the woods during fall with the red leaves all around.
Big one at 10ft tall and 12ft wide, but they come in all sizes. You can even have your own photos put on wallpaper for murals.

Another option, as I found murals expensive, is to paint. Bedroom has a nice blue sky with sun and clouds. This can also make it quite unique beyond letting you choose the most comfortable colors for you.
Yeah I remember looking at wallpaper murals a while back, they were a good price and I remember considering having one in another room. Like a wallpaper mural of a window that looks into a jungle or something. I never did that in the end but it's a cool idea.

It all depends on what you want. Don't let others dictate to you how you should decorate. The room should be an expression of you, not the Steam forums.
Yeah that's true but it doesn't hurt to ask around for ideas, maybe something will inspire me. It's like I have an idea in my head of what I want, but it's not quite there.

I would go DIY entertainment-center style, maybe a standing convertible desk you can raise and lower and get 2 wall shelving on both sides with a shelf above the desk to bridge the two wall units. You can put the center channel on the shelf above the desk, and the main L/R on the shelf or wall units, the rear speakers behind you near the wall. A futon couch/bed behind the chair can be chill when watching movies, just roll the chair aside.

Yeah but I mean should I just hang drapes from the ceiling or like bamboo stalks or what

With regards to the computer desk, have you tried a folding alternative? Possibly, one you build yourself with folding support brackets. This way when your PC is not being used you can fold the desk away.

If you don't like that option, there are a number of storage options that have a small footprint and are designed specifically for smaller rooms, maybe have a look at those alternatives.
I don't know about a folding desk, it sounds like a lot to deal with. I want to be able to use it on demand, but I don't want it imposing on the rest of the room. I was thinking of maybe even having it on a small coffee table with a cushion, but that might get too uncomfortable in longer gaming sessions.

I was thinking more along the lines of the desk becoming a feature of the room, for example, a folding glass desk can appear to be some kind of artwork when it's not in use as some glass desks come in all shapes and sizes.

A wooden desk with acrylic material fixed to the bottom could become a room mirror.

Mirrors are also a good way to make the room appear much larger than it actually is.
Doilies.
There's lot of computer room setup ideas if you search on browser.

As others have said, minimalism.

Hang TV on wall to make better usage of space. Hang TV above your main monitor, get a full lean back pc chair or couch behind it to see the TV better. This way, you have both visual of your monitor and TV. You want to access/view to all/most area of your computer room from your seat.

Get LED strips to light up the areas of room with cozzy color you prefer.

Another aspect is sound design.
You can put sound proofing cork blocks on your ceiling to deaden echo. Use as functional decoration.
I turned my office into a gaming studio/music studio/lounge area. Couches and such, a salt lamp, some strobes, and various lights.
Buy a lot of toys and showcase them in that room near the computer.
Don't forget to actually play with them every now and them because just keeping them on the desk and shelves would be not really good enough (way too close to what a boring normie adult would do)

Yeah, but I still have to put my monitor and keyboard and mouse and PC away every time and the cables always get messed up.

It was a good advice though, thanks for the idea. I think I'm gonna go for wood/jade theme

Thangka or two with that wood tone would go nice as well, if you found the right ones and enjoy that type of art.
Get all the branded gamer crap out. RGB is such a tacky look. It's like a Hyundai with custom spoilers, extra bass woofers, and flame decals.
