I don't assume everyone with more money than me is evil. I think it's great that they can achieve such success.
You don't get as big as Google by being nice or ethical.
I can handle ads at the beginning of any video myself, but I get really annoyed when 2 minutes into a video, a unskippable ad of 30 seconds interrupts your viewing. Im really contemplating about subscribing to youtube for a month to try it out but my mind isn't clear on this
Im going to do another 'Back in my Day' talks here....
Back in my day, we were forced to watch 3, 4 or 5+ minutes of ads during commercial breaks on television, sometimes we would have 3 or 4 of these ads every hour (talk about interrupting your movie experience). So fast forward to 2023, I can't really complain about a 30 second unskippable ad or a 5 second skippable ad really.
No thanks. I don't need the constant flying poo.
Ad blockers should be legal.
If they want us to turn them off, pay us,
Not the other way around.
I actually got Premium, and I think its worth it, but everyone is different in terms of priorities and what they want.
Zero issues with YouTube and adblock so far.
All YouTube needs to do to get me to stop using adblockers is to show a single skippable ad before and after videos only.
Using their massive influence and size to enforce their own policies on everyone and preventing any real competition from forming.
Another option would be a good ol' Raspberry Pi with a Pi Hole for adblock in your router / network level, or just setup Docker and run Pi Hole in your PC.
