I am getting old and I am done ..
I am getting old and I am done with Alcohol. Tomorrow is my 31 birthday and I want to cut out alcohol and vapes off my life and seriously focus on my health. Non of these substances have done me any good, including caffeine which my body reacts super sensitive to.

I am also fed up with people who constantly try to force me to get drunk and drink with them, why is it that people literally blame me for a ruined evening and act all depressed if I decide to not participate in heavy drinking.
Its nasty and my Ukrainian family has to learn that not everyone wants to die at 60 or 50 on various diseases caused by alcohol and an unhealthy diet.

I did not touch alcohol for like 3 months until my Ukrainian family came over and then tried to pressurise me. Telling me they go to sleep early and don't want to socialze anymore if I don't drink with the men of the house. Like wtf.

Its TIME to CHANGE !

Shout out to everyone out there who is in the same situation, don't give in to fools who want to kill you with poison, its your body, your choice.

I'm 30+ and never smoked nor really drank alcohol. Peer pressure never affected me since I can remember and if a social group was to try and force or intimidate me to do otherwise, it reflects poorly on themselves and I'd happily drop them as friends if they got too annoying.

Some people love to justify their own behavior when they're really just doing harm to their bodies. But you are in charge of your own body and life.

Yeah pretty much and good on you for never touching that nasty stuff.

Problem with family is, you can't cut them out of your life effectively as they will always pop up at least twice a year, which is for birthdays and christmas. lol. My friends and colleagues are all pretty anti alcohol so its easy to avoid that when I am with them.

That's a very healthy mindset, proud of you man!
I'm considering the same, as much as I "like" it, I realize I only like it at the moment, when you get home after a night out you realize what you have done and it just makes you more depressed.
Also no more hangovers which is always a plus.

Just today a friend invited me to catch up over a few beers, I was like let's get a coffee instead? and he was like lmao no... i dont get it either. people look at you weird if you refuse alcohol.

You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family.

In America that isn't really a problem since we can just ignore them.

Yeah exactly my experience. They can't accept a simple no.

I do that as well, as much as I can.

I quit drinking about 7 or so years ago.

I find it better this way.

Once you quit alcohol, you'll begin to appreciate being a functional person with a sober mind.

Most people who drink aren't doing it 24/7.

Doesn't matter. People who never drink or only ever drink on rare occasions are better off. If it's a regular part of your everyday life at all, it hurts you.

You don't have to be an absolute drunk to be negatively effected by drinking.

Try to reach the master level of emptiness.

See, you're thinking about it, talking about it, making a topic about it. That's not quitting at all. That's carrying.

Non drinkers won't do that. Alcohol is simply out of their mind. They thought zero about it, won't make a topic about it, won't think of it a single time.

And that is the highest level of success. Truly ignored in their life, out of place even in thoughts. Learn to forget. Give yourself reasons to ignore that interest. To forget that experience. That's how quitting is done.

If it makes you feel any better, OP; a handful of people on steam are older than my daddy.
