Would You Pay $100 For Triple A Games? (As a standard price)
People seem alright paying $70. The logic used to defend said price point is that "this was inevitable". A blanket phrase commonly used. I am very curious what most of you are willing to pay. It looks more and more like the direction we're heading.

As in boxed with some nick nacks in maybe, as in standard level affair with no extra thrills outside pre order goodies nah i wait for a sale.
Pocahawtness 12/out./2023 às 5:20
Depends. Certain games, I would. Rarely, though, and I would have to be 100% certain it was something I wanted.

Eventually everyone will... if they want to or not....

That's called "progress" and "inflation"... the price will always go up.

You're not wrong. But the intention behind my thread is more along the lines of something a bit more rapid.

Think of the question this way: Is gaming becoming more and more a wealthy persons' hobby?

Life is becoming a wealthy person's hobby... it's no more then anything else that costs more every year..

Every hobby goes up in price every year... every~thing~ goes up in price every year... what makes anyone think that people will just stop because "it's too expensive"?

Movie prices go up, cable t.v. prices go up... people still purchase them..

So long as there are alternatives to overpriced AAA games, it's not.

Perhaps, but triple A gaming itself could turn into that.

I assume when you say 'anyone', you meant me since I'm the one who made the thread. It's not that I think people will stop. I'm just curious if people's mindset towards it is the same. So far, the answer is yes.

Even if Activision makes a Hexen III with plethora of Acts inside, my answer is still "certainly not".

If people start to give $100 for a single game, it will also up everything related with it; Hardware, Software, future games...etc.

So, it shouldn't DEPEND on the game. Whole industry gets affected later on due to that "random" one game.

No, unless it’s something I’ve wanted for years like Banjo Threeie or Pikmin 5. Even then I’d feel gross.
Bagel 12/out./2023 às 5:29
Sure I’d rather pay more for a single game that is rich in content, than in total having to spend a lot more for multiple half baked, cheap games.

People need to understand, it’s not the 2000s anymore and developing games requires a lot more effort and budget.

When I say anyone I mean anyone... you know what they say about the word "assume"

People talk a lot... they say things and then do it anyway... it doesn't mean much really...

It's fine to speak up and say they won't... but they will

It always happens... it always will...

C'est la vie.

Edit:

People were saying $18 was "too much"... then $36 was "too much"... now $70 is "too much"

In a few years they will be saying $150 is "too much"... until it's more

Imagine playing a game with a few friends and $500 - $1000 is needed for just 1 match.
It's ridiculous price.

Unlikely. AAA gaming is business and nothing else. AA and indie are business intertwined with art. Unless someone drives the investors, shareholders and other money-grubbers out or they leave by themselves, they will stay as they are. As long as profit is the only goal, AAA games will not change.

Haha, again you are right. It's human nature, I guess. If it weren't, then we never would have needed laws for gambling.

You know what happened during mining craze (i was not a part if it) regarding those GPUs. Now even manufacturers increased the MSRP prices to ridiculous levels.

Once you start to give more for goods belonging to a business, that business DOESN'T just decrease those prices later on, only INCREASE them. Because they smelt that "blood" one time.

So, don't "bleed" in those wild seas of the Industry. There are shark-like companies and their nose is capable of getting the smell of even a modicum of (in the scales of $5) "blood" in deep ocean.

No, especially in the triple A environment; these days you have to wait at least 3 years for every dlc, premium edition and ultra bussy mode to come out
