Reaching a state of Gaming Zen
Last game I bought that wasn't a small niche indie title was in April.
I have become completely unfazed by trailers for upcoming games.
No new games were added to my library doing the last sale, only DLC for games I already own.
My backlog is shrinking. I have attained inner peace.

Back when I used to follow new releases, I would pressure myself to finish a game in order to play the next game on day one, for no apparent reason. It wasn't even about not wanting to be left out of the discourse surrounding certain games, I just wanted the shiny new thing - much to the dismay of my enjoyment of games and my wallet.

I'm sure a combination of several different factors caused this change in my habits and I am glad that it happened.

So, how are you going to consume your games in 2025? Are you once again going to fill up your library with games you'll never play during sales? Are you perhaps thinking about upgrading your PC just play new game X on release day? A game that will probably shut down after a mere month if it's a live service experience?
Or are you going to take a step back, look at what's already yours and finally enjoy gaming again?

I get cheap games instead of paying for streaming services. I just play whatever comes along. I don't expect any game to give me more than 10-20hrs; if it does, that's a bonus. Could care less about any "backlog" or keys I never redeemed.

I used to love all games, I am down to just a couple of genres now. Most of the industry isn't worth the effort any more, the whole concept of MTX is ludicrous at the end of the day, the push to have licenses for games rather than ownership, TLDR agreements to play a game, the 'message'.. an endless growing list. AAA game now just means, probably unfinished, expensive, over hyped and buggy.

But I have a couple I keep revisiting, another that's holding my interest for now. I will probably stay with those but if a new one appears that tweaks my interest I'm always up for a new game. I don't suffer from FOMO though.

And yeh trailers don't paint an accurate picture most of the time, I avoid them and so called game journalists reviews for the most part.
