I've been using my samsung smartphone for at least 8 years and probably even longer than that and it's still working fine without any damage despite surviving many falls, the only problems it has though is that it can be slow at times and I can't use certain apps since those apps no longer support my device.

it keeps collecting your data without your permission and sending their ads
and u will be forced to buy a new phone every year ,
how they do it ? their Operating Systems always update the system to make your phone feels so heavy even u clear your cache , history , storage , etc

Current one is 5 years old (i obtained it this year) previous one is 9 years old and was still running. I usually just use whatever someone else in my family was using before they upgraded, I don't use a phone for much.
