Pantera was friggin awesome. Dime was one of the greatest. But they weren't Nu Metal, they were just straight up Metal.
Pantera was playing in the 80's. They were actually a glam band until they decided to change their image up and just went straight up metal. They shot up before Nu Metal was even a thing. Nirvana and the grunge scene popped up and killed glam and pompous rock. Then Korn came out in the early 90's and blew the doors open on a new style of metal. Pantera is too thrashy to be part of that style and they were around before it was a thing.
You are right...it is Nu Metal. There is a difference. I am not talking about what band you or I like. I am just saying what style they were.
It isn't really about what you consider. Nu Metal is a genre. And whether you like it or not. Korn were the ones that blew the doors open on it. It has nothing to do with whether you like it or not.
Like I said, that is an opinion. Slipknot were right behind them. But Korn were the ones that started all of that. You can't really say someone isn't part of a genre because you don't like their music.
Lol. I think people decided that Sevenfold were overrated years ago. But they still have a big fan base. Good for them.
