Avenged Sevenfold is overrated
I feel like I'm the only one who personally thinks that this band just plain sucks, and its a band that wannabe metal fans like. There songs are soft, almost take no skill to play and people act as if that they are pioneers of the Nu Metal age. I strongly disagree. I personally think that the two front runners are Pantera and early Slipknot (after Iowa Slipknot has gone down in terms of great and heavy music but they are still ok nowadays). I personally just don't get all of the hype for this band. Does anyone agree?

FYI If you want some hard ♥♥♥♥ listen to King 810 and Scar Symmetry

Yea, there is nothing like some metal guitars. Metal guitars kick so much ass that you can work them into anything and it turns into instant energy. You can turn a Taylor Swift song into a Metal song and I would probably listen to that ♥♥♥♥ if the guitars were cool.

Most of Linkin Park's songs were considered as Hard Rock/Alternative.

Not at all. Metal isn't one of those genres you can just instantly jump into. It takes time to appreciate it. And once you do it quickly becomes the best genre around. For starters I reccomend the old school stuff like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden. Eventually you'll climb your way up the metal ladder and a few years down the road you'll learn to accept the harder stuff like screamo or death.

Was that Swift too? I haven't been keeping up with the mainstream stuff for a few years now.

Edit: I don't think so. I can't be sure though. I don't really recognize what he is covering.

Double Edit: Definitely Swift. Now I recognize it.

(Have I seen you on any other thread? You seem quite familiar.)
I know many, many people who listen to rock and hard-rock. The vast majority of them would highly disagree. Then again, this is entirely subjective and the defintion of 'hard rock' is differnt to everyone.
I hang around Off-Topic when I have spare time. You have likely seen me across many threads here.

Metal Covers to me are really hit or fricken swing and miss before the pitch is even thrown. For example I heard a horrendous cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit. To me there is no need to touch the song because without a single doubt it is the greatest song in the past 25 years. But thats not the reason it failed. It was nothing new with just harder riffs and screamo lyrics (which doesnt work at all). A good cover was Rammsteins cover of the Depeche Mode song "Stripped"

Smells Like Teen Spirit was perfect the way it was. Nobody needed to metal that up. It already felt pretty damn heavy anyway. Weird that someone thought that was a good idea.

Wow, the only two things people are more fanatical about than game systems are:

1) Nationalities (for stupid people)

2) Music

To add on to the OP's statement, personally I prefer my metal to have an actual form to it like Industrial music.

"There songs are soft, almost take no skill to play and people act as if that they are pioneers of the Nu Metal age"

Nobody thinks A7x are Nu Metal. In fact, more people think a7x is still metalcore than there are people who think they're Nu Metal. Self titled could possibly be Nu Metal. But everything after Waking the Fallen is Heavy Metal & Hard Rock, with the exception being The Stage as that's Prog Metal.

"There songs are soft"
Have you listened to anything outside of Hail To The King? Also, it's "their", not "there".

Scar Symmetry is pretty good. But i like prog metal more. Opeth and Dream Theater are my favorites. But only listen to Opeth albums up until 2008. The newer albums are not for me. They can't even be considered metal. DT i like all albums yet. SS i honestly only have 1 album which is great. Think it's from 2006. Love the Killswitch Engage cover of Holy Diver too. Never heard an Avenged Sevenfold song though, so i can't speak for that.
