think of the good times, many pets will have to go someday much as we do cept they live just like 10 years or more. life sucks.

It sucks losing a pet. It's okay to cry, nothing to be ashamed of. Cry as much as you need and drink water while you're at it, that can help. When you've calmed down a little more and you stop crying, think about your little gerbil and slowly accept that he passed. Think this: because of you, he was able to live a great life and was happy. Death's just inevitable, it was his time. But death is not the end, it's just a beginning to something new.

It's absolute hell losing a pet, belive me, I've been there. Don't run out to get another pet right away, you should take some time to get over it. No matter what humans do, there is nothing that can stop the end of a life. It's out of our control, accepting that fact does help in getting over a loss. Just remember all the great things the gerbil did in life, from adoption to today. He/she was only part of your life, but for him/her, you were his/her entire life. Try to do fun things to take your mind off of him/her. Best wishes for the holidays.
