Movies and TV are violent no question but they pale in comparison to video games.
I find the idea that so many gamers find gratuitous violence just fine but bad lanuage or ♥♥♥ is quesitonable.
to make my point lets use a point system. scale of 1-10
Violence:
movie violence: 7
game violence: 9.5
So the complain and concern factor from the population is really rather reasonable when it comes to violence. I personally dont think there is a cause and effect betwen fictional violence and real violence but I do think the concern is not out of perportion.
♥♥♥:
movie ♥♥♥: 7
game ♥♥♥:4
I personally have never heard outcry to nudity in games. I have however personally heard about concerns regarding the context of the nudity in games. That said I agree, movies are basically no better when it comes to sexism and I dont think anyone is suggesting that games are MORE sexist then movies.
Profanity:
larger concern amoung gamers then any of the other above topics....what the?
school-shooting happens : who's responsible? video-games
mass murder : who's responsible? video-games
bombing attack : who's responsible? video-games
It's a great way for the media to blame something they don't understand.
I guess they could have blamed the Batman games. But it was a theater shooting, and the lunatic was screaming that he was the Joker.
what the media doesnt seem to understand is that violence of that kind, like drug abuse, is an outlet of a problem, not the problem itself.
they have a hard time understanding the difference between the effect for the cause
I am saying on average. On average video games are much more violent then movies
