Do you like horror games/movies?
What the title says.

Do you like them? I seem to be the only one in my family who enjoys playing/watching them.

I personally find them pretty enjoyable, because unlike FPS, RPGs or standard movies they can actually get your heart pumping and can make you feel pretty immersed. Especially if you have headphones on late at night in the dark.

Yeah I love them .. altough I have to admit I really hate them for like 2 minutes if I got a jumpscare or so. Because well Horror Games and movies can be like that sometimes, but well that's the reason I like them. The only things you get that feeling from. So without them there would be something missing.

i do, you see that new "until dawn" for ps4 exclusive. that looks like such a fun game. i also like watching horror movies to the max. American Horror Story is a real good show, you should give it a go.

Definitely. My family loves horror movies so I pretty much grew up with them.

Horror movies get cheaper in quality by the year. Not really attached to them much anymore.

Saw it in the PS Exp show, makes me happy having a PS4 actually.

Well, i don't like those RUN AWAY FROM THE MONSTER games, except for Alien: Isolation.. but Amnesia f.e. is not my type of game.

F.E.A.R. is my favorite horrorgame.

As much as I'd like to try a horror game, I'm just simply too scared to play them. I'm worried that if I bought one I'd have a hard time finishing it because I'd be too scared.

Being scared is the appeal of the genre, if you're scared, the game is doing its job. That being said, they're a lot more enjoyable after you've played a few of them.

The only real way to overcome the fear of playing them is by actually playing them. If you get too tense or paranoid you can always take a short break.

Depends on the game.
If it's all jumpscares and nothing else, no.
If it actually puts effort into scaring the ♥♥♥♥ out of you, sure.

I prefer horror games to any other type. I love the feeling of being spooked by supernatural forces when properly immersed, there's just nothing quite like it. Unfortunately games that can do this are rather limited in number, although a lot do try.

Your typical "zombie apocalypse" game, while fun enough, isn't going to have that sort of effect, it requires a deep well written storyline and extremely thick atmosphere. And it only gets one chance to scare you - once you've either played it through or seen a "let's play" there's no chance at that point. This is why even horror games with replay value still don't really have replay value unless the replay value is in entirely different content (such as the various mods for Amnesia: The Dark Descent.)

I tend to pick up any horror themed games/films I find just because there may be even a few truly creepy moments in them, but the true terrifying experience is a rare find. I really appreciate a good paranormal scare when I find one, be it book, film, tv show, or videogame.

I like horror movies and long as they don't use the same old cliché story/scares.

I like many horror games like Killing Floor and Dead Space. I just tend to play RPG games more than horror ones. Unless someone ever manages to make a horror RPG.

I believe I am the complete oposite to you haha! In order for me to watch or play scary movies and or games, I need to be with some-one, call me a puss*e but I honestly sit there not seeing the point of waiting to get the sh*t scared out of me. Thats just me.

Not anymore no. They're not about atmosphere or story, they're about cheap jump scares.

System Shock 2, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, Secret World, Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 1 & 2, Sang Froid, and Legacy of Kain (the original on PSX) are all horror/horror themed rpgs I can think of offhand.
