What’s your favorite type of Sci-Fi?
Personally, it’s steampunk.

Feel like most "sci fi" is almost reality now anyway
I used to watch x files
Now aliens is mainstream talk on the news

Brain chips is a thing now, apple vision pro just released
Can now create video with AI that looks real
How long before all these things merge?

AI is taking of so fast
At this rate it won't even be long before you can write "create the sequal to (insert game)" and it will do so in 5 seconds

Watch black mirror and see how many things is already reality
Seems like sci fiction is just showing what's coming lol
I like design elements from a lot of sci-fi (such as big dumb 'mechs), but for actual stories or meaningful narratives, I'd say near-future / cyberpunk-ish / techno-thriller. I definitely have enjoyed grander stuff, but recently I get more out of things like Black Mirror than Star Trek / Wars.

I definitely share that preference

Anything that's cool. Nothing specific.

Recently, the dystopian world-building of Panem and the dark science fiction of Riddick.
Morkonan 20/fev./2024 às 19:34
Neil Asher (Polity), Ian Banks (Culutre/et al), The Killer B's (Bear, Benford, Brin), Peter F. Hamilton (Night's Dawn trilogy), C.J. Cherryh (Chanur series, Foreigner series), Foster (All), and then the "classics," Asimov, Heinlein, Bradburry, some Donaldson, etc.

I'm sure I missed a few.

I also like good Military Science Fiction. (Versus "bad" MSF)

In general - Far future Hard Sci-Fi or future-dystopian sci-fi always gets a glance from me.
