Constantinople has always been Turkish.
Greeks do not want it anymore. The Greek Government has expressed recently that they do not see Constantinople as it's Holy Capital and Athens is the only Capital it needs. He said this in February of 2024.

Not allies, per say, but I'm sure there was a sigh of relief everywhere when the Mongols finally captured Alamut and stamped out the Hashashin.

Then bow before King Charles III after which america will be handed over and become "States of the United Kingdom".

Truth be said, the prime minister of greece, openly calls "constantinople" (its greek and historic name) openly Instabul, at his social media or at other peers, especially ones from abroad.

One of his ministers too, even bowed before Erdogan, while the latter was visitting on a diplomatic mission, there.

When the Turks made a claim to part of the Aegean sea beyond their internationally identified nautical space and called it "Turkaegean", for touristic purposes, the greeks barely replied to that and post quite some time passed, first.

Greeks should sell the Aegean Islands to Turks to foster better relations!

Besides, modern greece holds few things "holy", or any respect for its history, legacy, tradition, even art. At best, they care for nothing and at worst, they intentionally sell things out, yield and cave in.

Like the entire rest of the world, it was probably British at some point. Everything was British, even if it was only for a few hours.

nope they gave up it after hey split their empire in 2
But they didn´t split the empire. Historians called it eastern Roman Empire, or Byzantium to distinguish it. The Romans themselves not. It was the eastern part of the Roman Empire, and then the Roman Empire, when the Western part fell apart.

well rome gave up its eastern part, and it look it is like west part tried to be independant from eastern part

it is more justinian tried to recover roman empire when he tried to conquer western part, but unfortunaly for him justinian plague ruin his plan to rebuild roman empire
