Do people still go on picnics?
like the dried reed basket, finger sandwiches, blanket on grass, in a park type of picnic.
or outing for that matter like the park with those metal grills to cook in

i haven't seen many people doing that in the past few years.

OH GOD, Nick should have been kicked out of Hollywood for that POS.
It's made so much worse that the original is considered one of the greatest horror films ever.

Not anymore. At some point, someone decided that it was "racist", so going out like that only makes you a target.
This is getting out of hand. :citizensurprised:

Picnics are racist, vanilla ice cream is racist, what next - white plain copy paper?

Oh white copy paper is sooooo racist, you only see white copy paper, but how often do you see black sheets? ;P

Drinking coffe with milk sounds racist too ngl ;P
I go on a picnic a couple of times a year, at a nearby state park. Nice picnic tables under trees, beautiful view of a marina and small island connected to the shore by a causeway.

And I literally could not care less if anyone doesn't like it.
Last picnic I remember having was whilst on holiday in France back in 1998.

Because the picnics nowadays are for rich people. Less well-off people are suffering everyday.
How are picnics for wealthy people when it’s free & people bring their own foods from home?
Poor people can't afford food like that. It can be very very expensive to make sandwiches if you aren't well enough off to have the ingredients on hand already.

A lot of poor people share housing, or have no access to kitchens. Eating only once a day for as cheap as possible (less than $5) is an actual economist recommended method to "beat inflation".

Consider everything that goes into a sandwich: bread, meat, cheese, condiments, pickles, veggies... sure you could make 14 sandwiches out of that $50 investment, but if you don't have $50 to invest in the first place, you are SOL.

It's a similar issue with buying in bulk. Yes, you can save money by getting 28 rolls of TP for $12, but if you've only got 85c and no TP, you're stuck buying the single roll.

Girl.
Maybe you need to pare down your grocery list or figure out that picnics can include any foods you want or can afford. All I’m hearing from you is excuses not to go outside in nature and enjoy some nibbles. It’s a shame because you’re the one missing out. I hope you take that little babe of yours on the way. You can nurse him or her in public so even that is free.:)
Life is to be savored, babe.
This isn't about me. But it so happens I have been there before, so I am able to understand what people might be going through. Just because you don't suffer from hunger every day of your life doesn't mean there aren't others who do. It's incredibly insensitive to say "get what you can afford" as if doing exactly that is not the only most obvious thing to do, but the only option aside from, what, stealing? Of course you get what you can afford. Some people can't afford anything. That's my point. If all you have is $1, that's all you can spend, and it's not gonna pay for a picnic.

Yogi would be sad these days at the lack of people. But he was given the power

I used to take girlfriends on picnics, but I haven't done that in a long time. Quite frankly, it's not very comfortable, and eating while sitting on the ground is awkward. Ants and bees generally ruin things too.

The main point of the picnic is having sex outdoors. Never considered having a picnic in a city park.
In Australia, plenty of people do picnics as we have a lot of park lands and the people love the outdoors.

I still keep picnic rugs and baskets but use them often.
