I prefer youtube shorts because I already have a youtube account and don't need to sign up to more nonsense apps.

I don't have an opinion on it, it's not relevant to my life.

Unfortunately it’s not entirely irrelevant. The people spending all day on there may be people you work with, you’re related to or friends with. They are the people voting, on the roads with us, etc., sometimes while filming or scrolling. So yeah, like it or not that culture has slowly seeped its way in already.
I understand your point but, personally I don't use it and none of my closest friends do, either. Nor does my closest family.

Society itself has always had issues, and it always will. Tiktok, like other social platforms is just another notch on that. It's hardly different from issues of the past, people are just more aware of it now due to easier access to more information. With or without Tiktok, society would have the same issues.

As for what people like or do, well that's their life and not my problem and I don't care.

I don't even use TikTok, but after seeing some of the stuff that comes out of it on youtube I'd rather not bother.

My opinion is so positive that I deleted my content and account.

I understand what you’re saying but I don’t see it as harmless as studies have already consistently proven how harmful social media is for people. This type is even worse for the reason Midori mentioned. It’s quite serious what that kind of conditioning does & so ultimately becomes relevant to the rest of us.
The problem is, I have never been a part of that social bubble. I never had facebook, myspace, twitter, X, discord, twitch, tiktok, et cetera accounts. I simply have no interest in any of that. So, I've been watching from the outside.

I have seen peoples attention spans getting shorter and shorter long before Tiktok came along, it is not unique to Tiktok. Give most people a book, and I guarantee you they will:

  • Sigh
  • Struggle to focus to read it
  • Constantly feel an urge to check their smartphone.

The fact is, these things are just societal problems in general. This is not a Tiktok specific issue. Though, do take studies carefully, while many do provide valuable insight into ongoing issues they may often provide misleading data if they are performed with an agenda. It is very easy to skew data.

It's Chinese spyware and most of the engagement on said malcontent-made malware is via bots and nonces. Anyone who willingly installs that app should at the bare minimum do so on a burner that is kept in a faraday cage when not in use.

And those who don't I want to sell a bridge.

A trend of shorter length videos that took popularity, and turned to garbage. You'd often see tryhards. Product sellers time to time.

I don't see any reason to use it.
