Its time for developers to let go of stamina in games..
Its been a long time coming, and i think more than ever before games need to drop the idea of stamina.. Or at the very least make more realistic.. I am SO sick of video games STILL today having stamina of someone who hasnt moved from their chair in decades... Some ripped soldier running 5 feet and running out of breath.. Or heck even space employees like in Lethal Company running 5 feet and running out of breath.. Can we PLEASE get rid of it.. Maybe it makes sense in survival games, but thats about it... Even then it should be more realistic, and its not.. Enough..

I think stamina can serve as a good game mechanic in games that focus on characters that would likely be reliant on it.

But, a race-car game doesn't need survival mechanics like "Driver needs food, badly."

Sometimes, games that have Stamina mechanics in them do not make any sense having Stamina mechanics.

When are they called for? Melee combat, of course, and games with lots of running. (Not a lot of "lifting heavy things many times" games...)

But, I don't need a lot of stamina to run twenty feet. Even my out-of-shape caboose can make it that far without having a hear-attack. Then again, I don't run anywhere, anymore, so... /dunno

IMO - It's a survival/character stat/mechanic that is overweighted in a lot of games that use them. Some may be only inserting an artificially induced mechanic to prop up poor progression mechanics and rewards.

Remember, Valve have stamina, oxygen and flashlight from the same energy pool. Worst decision ever made.
No. It deserves to be there.

Yeah like i said survival games make sense for stamina, but still should be able to run a good bit without having a heart attacks. haha. Like you said.

Not really.. Rarely ever does it need to be there. haha

nah.

just mod your own game or cheat on your own time.

if i make a game that requires it, it will have stamina 100%.

Having to diligently manage my self-regenerating ability to move faster in my first person shooter game? It's more likely than you think!

fr, I'm not that healthy or active irl, but I know that I could run further and longer, than some of those fake a$$ video game chars.

I also dislike when they disable (or highly nerf) bunny hopping and other mechanics,, as an example: jump or crouch only 3 times and you can't jump or run anymore for 10 seconds!!
like wtf is that junk? "devs" :steambored:

Stamina is an okay mechanic as long as it's not too short, then it becomes a problem.

Most games do not ned stamina, or even mak sense to have it. lol And most the time its not realistic at all about it, and is just goofy is my point.

But most the time stamina is the same throughout the game even without carryinf stuff. lol Still seer most people being ale to run further than most games.

Most of such mechanics are unnecessary, tedious and boring. Another is weapon/armor degradation/breaking. Somehow people want such things for "realism", but to me "realism" isn't all that important in games. I want fun.

That said, if it's not too big of an annoyance, I can deal with it. Though more often than not nowadays I tend to ignore such games and get others. It's not as if there aren't enough fun games to last a lifetime anyway.

When was the last time you went outside and walked down the street to the store?

Hiking up a hill, running a mile, which real militaries require, are part of the simulation. If you don't want that, then there's plenty of other games that might have what you want.

stamina has its own places. i just don't like how it ties with running imo especially when walking (or jogging) is a slog rather than immersive
