Mouse or Controller for FPS games
Hey, I was thinking for christmas if I should get a PC controller, a Gaming Keypad, or just use my keyboard. What do you think?

Mouse and keyboard work really well for FPS games. If you are playing multiplayer it is a must. Offline though, it can be down to preference to a point. Mouse and keyboard tend to be better but if you are playing on your couch for instance... you can use a controller if you want.

Have you tried a gaming keypad? I have my eyes on the Razor Tartus

No.... I don't think so. I typically stick to the tried and true mouse and keyboard. Or I'll use an Xbox 360 controller if I don't feel like sitting at the computer.

Was going to say, Razor Orbweaver looks like it can solve some of my annoyances with the KB. And there are a few.

I looked at the orb weaver but my hand does not fit it right. It's too big for my hand Lol

Whatever makes aiming easier for you.
PC gamers usually struggle with controllers so if you are used to playing on PC you probably won't like using a controller. If you can rebind the keys you save money by using your regular keyboard.

If I play with a sniper rifle then mouse and keyboard. Anything else Xbox controller will be best.

Stick to your mouse and keyboad if you play FPS, trust me, it's much easier that way than playing with a controller.

You should invest in a wiimote- it is so versatile you can use it to play any of your games , esp. on the couch with bluetooth in steams big picture mode.

Wiimote Zapper using wiimotiononcod9 for sniper games.
wiimote + nunchuck using wiimotioncod9 for fps games (twitch games etc)
wiimote + glovepie for 2 d games, emulators, MAME, etc.
my "friend" even had it set up with a joystick for USF4.
wiimote + wiimouse for point and click games

We tried razer hydra, its overrated for the cost and not comfortable because you cannot just simply hang out on the couch and play any way you want to.

Thanks SOOOO much I just bought five wimotes for my pc games with all the add ons. Steam even has a wiimote option to sync up. When I played cod I was dominating all thanks to the wiimotes. Ahh I am happy now. Lol but seriously does anyone think I should buy a gaming keypad?

I don't use controllers at all, but I have games like the Assassin's Creed series that sometimes I really wish I did use controllers.

That being said, FPS games are always smooth going with just a keyboard and mouse

FYI; If you do start using a controller, be aware that if you want to use an Xbox One controller, you will need to download the drivers to make it work with pc games. Here's the link to an article that has a link for the driver download; http://www.hanselman.com/blog/howtouseanxboxonecontrolleronyourwindowspc.aspx

Mouse with inverted Y is the only way to go.

Gamepads are only good for 3rd person hack and slash like Devil May Cry, fighting games like Tekken (though in my experience, the xbox pad is way too laggy. Use an arcade stick or the dualshock for fighters) or strategy games where you're primarily controlling the HUD.

I was wondering about a gaming mouse. I was looking at the Razer Naga (with the 12 buttons on the side, for MOBAs like Dota and LoL, I suppose.) and if I was still a WoW player I would've gotten this in a second. But now that I play more FPS games and maybe wanting to go to Dota, would a Naga be beneficial at all to my gaming experience?

The Naga has a DPI of 8200, amirite? I think that might be a bit too high for FPS, if I'm not mistaken.

12 buttons is excessive.

IMO, the MX518 and it's successor the G400s are the perfect gaming mice.
