Run a full scan with your antivirus program.
I used to have v9 on my computer. I just deleted it and it seemed to keel over and die like a bloated infant.

Run a full scan with your antivirus program.
Smartfoot, that won't really help.

If you really want to be sure, defrag it, run a new windows and you're good.

You clearly have no idea what defragging is.

We're talking about an easily removable malware here, there is no need for a reinstall.

format.

it even removes the sneaky secret viruses that you have.
Some helpful malware & rootkit detection/removal links to help you OP:

Run this 1st (choose the right operating system you have)

http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/stinger.aspx

-repair/reboot if it detects anything

2nd:

Run a rootkit remover:

http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/rootkitremover.aspx
-repair/reboot if it detects anything

3rd:

Free version of Malwarebytes-Antimalware here; Run a full system scan:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Reboot PC

Quick Tip:

If you are using Microsoft Windows, check out Microsoft Fix-it, which resolves security, UAC (user account settings), Windows Update (if it's not working), firewall check, etc. Choose fix security, privacy or other users.

http://support2.microsoft.com/fixit/

Also recommended as per a reliable browser is Firefox, which you can download here:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Once installed, you may not want the Search plug-ins which appear in the top of the browser. Those can be simply deleted. The Duck Duck go one is labeled as ddg.
Program Files>Mozilla Firefox>Browser>Search Plugins. Delete the ones you don't want or all of them

For Firefox Browser Addons:

Ghostery -detects spyware like Google Analytics, web beacons, trackers. Easy to use, read the info . People would be surprised how many trackers are hidden in the websites they visit.

No Script -prevents website(s) from running hidden, Flash or Java based scripts. Only use if needed

Ad-Block Plus -Blocks annoying adds from teh interwebs

CCleaner:

Best cache cleaner there is:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Interesting Program which detects and removes Deleted files. Many people think once they delete something from they're PC, it's gone. No it's not..

Edit:

Any questions feel free to add me. Some malware may be tricky to detect and remove. But they can't hide if you know the right tools to remove them. Be cautious of the websites you visit. Use the add-ons suggested
