Quick Tip:
If you are using Microsoft Windows, check out Microsoft Fix-it, which resolves security, UAC (user account settings), Windows Update (if it's not working), firewall check, etc. Choose fix security, privacy or other users.

Once installed, you may not want the Search plug-ins which appear in the top of the browser. Those can be simply deleted. The Duck Duck go one is labeled as ddg.
Program Files>Mozilla Firefox>Browser>Search Plugins. Delete the ones you don't want or all of them
For Firefox Browser Addons:
Ghostery -detects spyware like Google Analytics, web beacons, trackers. Easy to use, read the info . People would be surprised how many trackers are hidden in the websites they visit.
No Script -prevents website(s) from running hidden, Flash or Java based scripts. Only use if needed
Ad-Block Plus -Blocks annoying adds from teh interwebs
