antivirus removal tool

I didnt know if this should go here or if it should be in hardware\operating systems but as I need help I thought I'd post here, sorry to mods if you need to move this.
I installed AVG free 2015 because when I last had a PC 2011\2012 AVG was the AV to have but now its a big pain in the butt, so I want to remove and install avast(recommended by sister shes more computer savy then me) but it wont let me uninstal it from the control panel,click on AVG,uninstall ect.
Ive done a google search and there is tons of removal tools but its a case of which is safe,can any1 recommend a safe tool and maybe give me a safe link to it (if this is allowed)

Is avast a good AV what do you recommend?

I personally use AVG and never had any problems with it. The best AV however is common sense and to not press shady links.

Thank you,thank you,thank you I cannot thank you enough got rid of it. I'm a PC noob and I have to say that I cannot fault the steam community for the welcome and help and advise I've recieved. I bricked my last PC by getting infected with ucash malware scam and so I'm now paranoid of getting anything wrong with this new PC. I've run malwarebytes and no treats were found should I run ccleaner as well?
