Thank you, I always wondered why I never had the mic playback it said I was supposed to have! If you hold the mic mute button, it will flash red and that turns it on/off.

Ok so i have a stealth 450...not sure if that's a "z60" or what ever...but i tried holding down the mic button for like...8 seconds + and nothing worked...i still get playback....what do i do?
it's not play backing through the PC and out the headset...the headset is just CONSTANTLY play backing.

Since everyone loves digging this post out of its grave and giving it a shake, I figured I'd at least clear some stuff up. What you're hearing is called "sidetone" and telephones and other communications devices introduced it to make it easier to hear yourself speak, which would prevent less savvy users from incessantly shouting so they can hear themselves. If you have any software that controls the equilizer, lights, etc. in your headset, that software can also help you adjust the sidetone volume or disable it altogether.

I have a turtle beach. The solution is to plug the usb plug into an electrical outlet adapter instead of the pc. One of those adapters that you use to charge your phone.

IF you're still wondering. I have z60s also. I've had them since december last year but suddenly i can hear my own voice and after 20 mins of thinking my headset was broken, i tried to hold down the mic mute button on the sound driver thing. By doing so i have now learnt i can toggle the feature on and off.
THANK YOU SO MUCH

I bough the Stealth 400 and they're complete garbage. I rang the Turtlehead helpline and you can't turn this off so your always stuck with listening to your own voice played back through the headphones.

Returning this junk. Even without the mic problem the sound quality is awful. Its muffled with zero imaging or soundstage. Typical gaming headset garbage.
