New Google Chrome Tab?

I use Google Chrome all the time and just today I saw a new tab next to the minimize and Restore tab at the top of the window that looks like a person and is used for logging into you Chrome account, is this brand new cause i have never seen it before?

I was just mucking around with it.

It's the profile feature, it was already in chrome, but not this icon. When you create a new profile, chrome seems to randomly pick a name from it's default ones (E.g, Footy with a Football, or a Cupcake avatar profile named "Sweetness" - these being defaults when you create a new profile here.)

I would have presumed an update would have added this, but the last main branch came out weeks ago I believe. It could be chrome randomly selecting your browser to take part in a test feature.

Test features can be found by going to

chrome://flags

But a reinstall seems to show it again so most likely it was a very small update somehow slipped it in.

well it just worries me when stuff like this happens I was downloading FlightGear a Open source flightsim when I first saw the new title bar tab so I was a bit concerned as to how it got there I have had problems with viruses in the past even with top anti-virus and only dowloading from trusted sites. it looks legit but google really needs to alert people when they do ♥♥♥♥ like this so people know what is going on and with all these hacks and viruses they should have more impetus to let users know that it is a new feature and not a virus.

Unfortunately you may never be alerted with such features as your browser can be changed with experimental features at any time if you have the setting enabled. You can disable this feature if you want (I personally find the whole chrome "profile" thing extremely annoying and glitchy) by going to the chrome://flags page, and searching "profile" under CTRL + F and you should find a match for a feature relating to profile UI, and you can disable it.

Well what I was reffering to is on the Title tab next to the minimize icon and this specific I con looks like a persons torso and head but i just checked with my friend and it is a new feature cause his has it too.

Thanks it was just very odd I have been using computers since the late 90's and never once seen more then 3 tabs on the title bar of web browser windows just the Minimize, maximize/restore and the close tabs so for me this took me aback, I wanted to be sure it wasn't a virus or something else that could be bad.

I got this about a year ago.
I messed up the profiles accidently and it kinda broke my chrome.
Now I use firefox which I personally like better.
Don't make my same mistake.
