Avatars mean different things to different people and its a massive leap to move from some silly depiction of a girl in anime to a platform of pedophilia. I dont doubt period some have been used by these nefarious types, hell even the police used liked images to catch them but by far and large ♥♥♥ anime is an eye catcher so its understandable why its popular.
