Wtf is with the offline mode thing?
I live at school and of course a lot of stuff is blocked including online games so I play offline. I go home once a month to go online and not too recently I set steam to go offline before leaving home to school. I'm here with my 50$ worth of games I can't play because I apparently HAVE to go online for them. They are all offline so why do I have to log onto steam to play them? I think we should have our games work separately with steam because people like me can't play our payed games.

Steam has worked like that since the beginning. It is called DRM...some games work by just clicking on the .exe though. You will have to google yours up.
Just get some CD games.

Steam does need to verify you own those games, before it lets you use the offline modus. Which means the computer you want to use them on, has to connect to the internet once.

Steam is after all a DRM system.
game tap..... your average small time childs web site like "happy trails games" would do the SAME thing. you would have to get a bunch of games on dvd and install them into your computer. i'm guessing that you have a laptop at school? are you a teacher?

Read the Support Article for Offline mode. It will tell you each and every game must be run online at least once before placing Steam in Offline mode.
