The Ultimate Survival Sandbox/Empire Builder RPG - Does It Exist?
I have been looking (and waiting for YEARS) for a sandbox game that allows you to start from scratch with nothing but rags and sticks to your name and work your way up to the point where you can craft and eventually build equipment and structures, and even setup a small settlement which you can later grow into a city and even multiple cities given enough time and dedication... but more, much more.

When I say "more" I mean the ability to claim territory for your own. From within these territories/cities you will have the ability to populate the very cities you built with your own two hands with either players or npcs. You can then assign these npcs/players to work in the cities u have established, or even conscript them as soldiers in your army to protect your territory, or even invade other players territories if you desire.

The ability to advance your technology and move from the bronze age into the iron age and so on and so forth is also a very appealing mechanic I would like to see as well in a game like this -- The ability to custom design and build your own siege equipment, vehicles, tanks, warships, aircraft, and even spacecraft would be amazing too.

If the game allowed you to advanced yourself and your empire into a spacefaring civilization, you should be able to go out into space and colonize moons and planets to further expand your influence. I would think this would be the apex of your civilization at this point, "end-game" if you will.

The game should have multiplayer capability and you should have the ability to host your own servers if possible too.

The ONLY game I have ever encountered that came remotly close to this was a game called Shores of Hazeron (non-steam). The major problem with this game was that there was lack of support/funding for it, extremly slow development, terrible and oudated graphics engine, poor coding, and it was more of a first-person city/empire manager than anything and it lacked the immersive survival/crafting components I think a game like this ought to have.

The only other game I have seen with a technology system I am talking about is Rise of Nations, however that is a RTS game and lacks every other aspect I am looking for.

In terms of the atmosphere/graphics/feel I am talking about, games such as Life is Feudal, Reign of Kings, Rust, Space Engineers are as close as it gets -- however those games are very limited and unsophisticated in comparison to what I am looking for -- but at least they are better designed and look a thousand times better than Shores of Hazeron.

As you can see, I have encountered many games that were partly there, but never did quite reach the bar I am setting here.

If anyone knows about a game like what I am talking about that I have for some reason beyond me have not been able to find already, or any knowledge of such a game being developed or in plans for development, id appreciate it much :) I would gladly support and fund such a game if I was given reason to believe it fit the bill and would actually get past alpha/beta.

Thank you for your time :)

Check out Mount and Blade: Warband, maybe?

If there is a game out there like that....I have not seen or heard of it. Your game takes a lot of concepts....it would be extremely difficult to make it. It has a little of everything. You may like Mount and Blade Warband though. It is medieval only but it is kind of a blend of strategy, open world gameplay and RPG elements. If you haven't seen it check it out.

Edit: Amsel is a freaking ninja. His typing skills vastly outweigh mine.

Tried it already but it was too instanced for my taste. Looking for something more open world and seamless, and allows for more creativity, crafting, and isnt restricted to just ancient times.

It doesn't really exist then. That is too much for one game lol.

Yea I also kinda been drawing the same conclusion myself -- it's ambitious, perhaps too ambitious -- and most game developers arnt willing/comitted enough to such a project, not unless they are paid for it at least, lol.

If was able to learn how to code and make games, I would try to make something like this -- but it would take years to get the skills required to make something of this magnitude.... and even if I did, id be lucky to find a good team of designers/coders who could help me fufil this dream.. would probably require a lot of money no matter what angle you approach it. Perhaps my dream game is unattainable ;(...

Strong you are, young Padowan.
But not strong enough.

I guess I am left with no choice -- I have to find a way to become a billionare to financially enslave a team of game developers to work day and night to make this game become a reality.

Lots of people have thought of similar things, I was even imagining a game like that, but with unturned style graphics.

That's actually acceptable -- I can live with this game even if the graphics were not top-notch. It's the depth and gameplay that makes it the game really -- graphics are nice but not what's most important for something like this. Plus -- you can always do a graphics overhaul later... you don't neccesarily need shininess right off the bat on version 1.0. Just so long the graphics arn't like Shores of Hazeron.... believe it or not SoH graphics make unturned graphics look very sophisticated IMO.
