"Decent" anime games?

I just want to know if there's any anime-styled games on steam that are actually good. All I can find are crappy dating sims aimed at horny teenagers and weaboos. Visual novels aren't my thing either. To my knowledge the only anime-esque games I've played are Mitsurugi Kamui Hikai which I quite like and Long Live the Queen which actually looks interesting but I never really got into (Ignore my playtime, I idled for cards). Valkyrie Chronicles and The Legend of Korra also look quite good.

The Naruto fighting games actually look really fun. I don't really like the franchise but I'm willing to look past that.

Looks decent, but a bit too expensive right now. I'll still definetely consider it if the reviews are good when it comes out. Wonder if it's anything similar to DBZ:BT 2/3. I liked those ones.

It most certainly is a game.

Sure, you keep telling yourself that as you do nothing but click 'continue' to progress the story or whatever the ♥♥♥♥. There is nothing that can even be remotely described as 'gameplay' in visual novels. If all it is is text, pictures, and story, and nothing else then I have no interest in it.

Isn't it safe to say that when you play a "game" that you're playing a visual "novel" in a way?

No. Not in the slightest. When I play a game I want to feel like I'm actively taking part in or achieving something, or progressing towards something bigger. Visual novels do not offer that. Don't get me wrong, they're certainly a form of media entertainment, but they are not games. That would like saying a movie or a book is a game. And they don't appeal to me either.

Looks intriguing, but from what little I've seen of other DoA games it's glorified fanservice. However that was based off of the Game Grumps playing DoA Xtreme 2, which is literally nothing but fanservice, so I guess my view of it is a bit skewed.

I know you can make choices, but it still doesn't feel like I'm actually [i[doing[/i] anything. I'm just sitting there, clicking on options, waiting for something to happen. It feels tedious and boring.
Like I said in my original post the only other visual novel I have played was Long Live the Queen. I havn't played much of it but I played enough to know it was the kind of 'visual novel' that I would enjoy because it contains more than just pseudo-progression that other visual novels have, mainly because of its RPG elements that work alongside events that occur in the storyline. To me that game is an RPG, and not a visual novel.
