Looking for RPG with AI Controled Followers
Hey all,

So I am on the search for an RPG with followers/companions/party members that are CPU and AI controlled. For example, Skyrim has the follower mechanic which allows the player to recruit an in game NPC as a follower, then when in combat, the follower will act on it's own without the need for player interaction. Of course, with mods, there are a number of things that can be done to change this. I know, I have Skyrim and over 100 mods installed. :-)

The game does not have to support AI follower control as a developed feature, but would at the very minimum need to be added via a mod or edit of some sort.

Genre is not very important either, though I would prefer a fantasy themed game, but modern, futuristic, historic, or any time period would be fine.

If there were a mod for Divinity: Original Sin or Wasteland 2 to add this feature, that would be outstanding. However, some quick digging around the web and I have found, nor heard of such a mod.

So, to sum up, I am looking for a game with followers that are controlled by the CPU and AI, that do not require player interaction, but act for themselves.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and welcome.

Take care,

You can let your companions do their thing in the NWN games, Star Wars Knights of the old Republic, all the Fallout titles and the Dragon Age games.

Playing Borderlands 2 now, there is a class that can summon a follower for a short time (DLC though), maybe that as well?

You talking old Republic 1 or 2, or both? Been a long time since I played either.
Just installed NWN II, though I'm looking for something a little more sandboxy.
Was thinking New Vegas, skipped that one in the series...I'll probably check it out now though.
Not a fan of the DA series

Thanks Fork!

Dragon's Dogma if you have an Xbox or Playstation.

I meant both the KotOR games, but if you didn't like the DA games, the games might not be for you to be honest.
Ever tried Sacred?
The first chapter does not really allows you to have a follower, at least I don't remember the chance to hire people, but there are lots of quests where you'll have to deal with followers who might either permanently die or just pass out when their health bar runs out. It's both fun and agonizing to figure out which one is which every time.

@John - Had heard good things about Dragons Dogma, will look into it more. Thx

@Fork - Loved both KotOR games...not sure what you mean by if I don't like the DA (Dragon Age) games, I might not like the KotOR games. Maybe just reading it wrong though.

Mount and Blade allows you to recruit soldiers and make your own platoon. Then you can find more detailed followers, who are usually stronger, and have more quests and detail than the average cannon fodder you hire.

@Keyes - Yah, really enjoyed the Mount & Blade games, think I still have one installed actually. :-) Thanks for suggestion.

Does anyone know of a 3d Isometric Torchlight, Divinity, Wasteland or like game with AI controlled followers? Really looking for a party based game I guess...though some of these suggestions are turning out to be great games. Dragons Dogma is really a good game...don't wanna start a new discussion, but they should either port it to PC or make a squeal with PC in mind as well.

Thank you all and take care,

I know that this isn't a game like Torchlight or the first two Fallouts, but your party is AI controlled in Persona 3.

(Persona 3 is a JRPG)
