The Thing Remake video game idea
The Thing is the remake of the old thing from the 2002, video game. The game will be made into an FPS Survival Horror game, for better gameplay and experience. The game will have the same setting as the movie from 1982, and will continue were the movie left off. The engine the game will run on, is either going to be the "Unreal Engine 4" or, the "ID Tech Engine 6" to capture the suspense, horror, and the unsettling atmosphere.

Story: The Thing is set in the aftermath, of what a cured in the movie.

A rescue team comes to investigate the American outpost, in the arctic. To find out what happened and follow the events that were set in motion, in the last minutes of the movie. The rescue team is divided, into different groups consisted of 4 people. Considering of 24, people in the rescue team. The groups of rescuers decide to explore and look for survivors while, keeping contact on radars and radios. And looking for any type of information about what happened in the outpost. The game is set 1 year after movie so, it's set in 1983. You, play as Nolan Jones. One of the rescue team members sent to the outpost, to find information and survivors. As the team of 24 people are divided into groups and sent to different locations of the outpost to find survivors and investigate. You are sent by yourself into a part of one of the outpost's buildings that, are still standing and not destroyed. You wander around the building and try to find survivors but to no avail; the only thing you find is junk, supplies, and tiny bits of information left by the previous occupants.

Suddenly, you feel something is watching you and observing your every movement. When you try to look around for what's watching you. The feeling leaves. Your radio starts to began to static and you hear voices, but with the static going on, you can't seem to make out what the voice on the radio is saying. You decide to leave the building, and go look for your team or groups.

I don't think it would take an entire year for a team to get there. They would probably be there within 2 weeks of radio silence.

The problem with this is the lack of environment, and the 2002 game suffered the same fate.
All you would be doing is
"Hunkering down behind the walls of a demolished outpost that's been frozen out for months."
(Quote from Spoony on his review of the 2002 game-adaption of "The Thing")
You COULD add a space-ship level or something based on the flying saucer.

That is pretty much the 2002 game.

You know it doesn't need to be in the same place. as a matter of fact. There are many environments in the arctic a developer could use. like an oil refinery,LIVING STATION, Military base, An energy efficient building, other; research stations. A developer could make The Thing remake an open-world game. instead of staying in the same place, and wandering around killing or running away from the thing. Why not go everywhere and look for survivors and supplies to last you.

Also make each character interesting, for example: The very first people you meet have interesting things about them. Tom is good with healing you, and others from injuries and will always try to help you. Jack is very trusting in hard or, difficult situations such as ammo or scouting around locations and will always stick close to you.

Henry is good with weapons such as a flameflower, fire grenade, and flaregun. He will always share ammo and follow close to you, and will never wander off without you, or the other group or team members.

So The Thing remake game, could have some potential to it. It just needs good gameplay, storyline, and characters, to be a great or good game. And less fixing repair boxes for the rest of the game, or better none.
Man, Unreal Engine, have it like the Alien: Isolation game maybe. A linear story as well as a spin-off game mode where you're put into randomly generated situations with a Trust System like the PS2 game. Maaaaaaaaaaan, I would kill for a game like that.

IMO an open world Thing game is not a great idea and I am personally against making a movie like The Thing into a video game because I think it's not feasible to pull off well. It wouldn't live up to the film.

You know, they actually made a Thing game one time.

It didn't look very good, from what I've seen of it.

Yeye. My concept is like Alien: Isolation basically. A linear game for the most of it. Just the other game mode is like the Suvival mode on Alien but randomly generating where stuff spawned, who was assimulated etc.

Do you mean the 2002 game?

The Thing game from 2002 was actually pretty cool. It had a unique "trust" system.
Tux Oct 26, 2016 @ 9:37am
if I was king I would make it illegal for 20 years to make any re-make or sequel game.

There is multiple lifetimes worth of new ideas I could spit off without even thinking much about it that can be done and done compelling in video games, we need to stop re-hashing the same thing over and over again

I loved that system. Too bad the other aspects of the game were a bit... off.

The concept I have wouldn't really have any relation to them other than the franchise name.

Huh? I'm saying it wouldn't be related to the game as in a sequel to The Thing (2002), I don't mean to make a game that has no relation to the franchise...
