It's a PS3 exclusive, it'll quite possibly never come to PC in any official form, as long as Sony holds the rights to it, which I'm quite sure they'll be holding said rights for quite a while.

You can't put Demon's Souls on PC. It is available on PS3 because Sppokfox said it never came to PC in any official form.

It's not a matter of how "powerful" the PC is, PCs have been far more powerful than the PS3 for decades.

Dark Souls 2 only came to PC because Dark Souls was on it too, but even then it came out on consoles beforehand and we got a crappy port. Bloodbourne is also going to be a PS4 exclusive, which is quite saddening since it's like the one PS4 game I wanna play. Also, I haven't tried Demon's Souls yet, so I think it would be great to have it on PC.

because consoles have specific big money companies behind them (Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo these days, Sega, Atari and others back in the old days) who either have their own in house developers/publishers to ensure exclusives or otherwise essentially bribe developers/publishers into not releasing on competing platforms. unlike the consoles, there's no company inclined enough to pay for PC exclusives since if, for example, Intel or Nvida were to bribe companies into making games exclusive for their hardware they'd be hit with a lawsuit faster than you could blink

it's ridiculous really because all it does is hurt the game sales. maybe a handful of people will throw enough money away for the console needed for just the one or two exclusives that hold any interest for them but I can't imagine that they make nearly enough money out of it to justify the cost of bribes or the potential value of sales on other platforms

Every xbox one has one implanted at the factory.

@vioray What do you think will happen when consoles become less profitable to make exclusives for? Will there be a massive switch and they will die out entirely?

I doubt it, there'll always be gamers who prefer the simplicity of just buying one machine and playing games on it without having to worry about upgrading parts, compatibility (less of an issue than it used to be though) and who prefer to avoid messing about with an OS to launch the games. neither consoles nor computers are likely to ever kill the other but the gap between them is much smaller than it used to be and personal tastes aside the biggest difference these days (apart from the first year or so of a consoles lifespan when they can outperform the average PC) is simply the software. if all games were available on all platforms they'd be viable on then it'd be better for all gamers who can chose the machine they prefer and would very likely result in higher games sales as a result. it's not likely to ever happen though, neither Sony nor Microsoft are likely to take the chance when exclusive games are the easiest thing to market

Backing up your own disc images to be used in an emulator isn't illegal, nor are the emulators themselves so long as you're dumping your own bios if necessary, but who really does that anyway when most of the games being emulated are older and only being sold second hand? The PS3 emulator is in a stage of early development of where anything that it can run is almost unplayable, and there is no 360 emulator. Yeah, hella framerate drops in Demon's Souls, it's why I decided to build a PC for all those older games on last gen that I wanted to but hadn't yet played (Souls series, etc), it's the consoles and not the games. Most modern PC's may be more powerful than last gen consoles, but emulating the CPU's contained within them requires even more powerful hardware as it's a pretty complex and demanding process at anything other than native settings, in addition to a dedicated community of awesome coders and whatnot.

I think Sony funded Demon's Souls, first party exclusives and platform holder funded games wont be released on other platforms because they're part of their overall strategy to drive console sales and in turn increase software sales. I'm not sure why anyone would expect anything differently as that'd be asking for a business to become irrational within an economy that pressures them to act within their own interests so as to remain within the market, although it'd still be cool if everything was truly multiplatform though, because I'd totally stick with PC then. Sony could have Demon's Souls ported as the PS4 and not the PS3 is now their primary focus, so losing consoles sales relevant to the PS3 is pretty much a non-issue, but I doubt that's going to happen. Also, I'm not sure if Sony or Microsoft (or even Nintendo) really consider PC as a platform to be their major competition, as opposed to each other, hence the exclusives.

There is a 360 emulator. Some Polish guy is behind it. He ran Frogger at 3 fps a few months ago.

screw it, i'll just find a used ps3, I want to play so bad.
Gurrarn 2014 年 10 月 26 日 下午 7:17
Because Sony played a pretty big part in the development/publishing of Demon's Souls, which they did not for Dark Souls. Bloodborne is in the same position.

Demon's Souls is pretty good, but damn difficult. I consider myself to be pretty good at the Dark Souls games, but Demon's Souls takes brutality to a whole new level.
