Cant you create an American account, buy it for 60 then gift it to your main account? or even download from amazon? how would they know if your buying from a different country.

i think it detects your location when you create an account

Oh nvm then, because on Playstation 3 or 4 you can select what region you are in then it loads the PSN store for that region, so im able to view the playstation store for Europe. Figured you could somehow select what region you are in for steam too

I agree with this.

so i decided to look around the store to see every single game on there to be more expensive then before this "lets ♥♥♥♥ over all the canadians with this conversion ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" tactic. im pissed off, i dont have the money for this crap. what now?
Hanomaly 17 okt, 2014 @ 0:54
move out of Canada? why be made at Valve for you having you use your actual proper currency? It's not Valve's fault if the Canadian Dollar sucks, nor is it Valve's fault if publishers charge Canadians differently than Americans.

~i've heard some people say even with the higher priced games it can still work out about the same for you all because now you don't have to pay some kinda.. conversion fee or somethin? Not sure... how they worded it. Do a search on the forum for other people complaining about the Canadian Dollar change (there's a huuuge thread around here somewhere).

all they care about is making money and Valve is no different

Just consider the extra costs a tax on your tasty tasty Maple syrup.
gleofrocga 17 okt, 2014 @ 12:54
Are you saying its 70 Canadian dollars or the Candian Dollar to USD is 70USD?
Devoras 23 okt, 2014 @ 8:26
Actually I find that the cost difference is negligible in most cases, and if it's a newer game like far cry 4 you will want to buy it somewhere that's cheaper anyway, like greenman gaming when they have a voucher or gamersgate.

However it's becoming clear this is actually a very bad change and screws us over, because they are selectively blocking us from buying certain games in Canada now. I don't entirely understand this as it will mean lost sales for them, seems like everyone is losing.

An example is Singularity, which I only noticed because it was listed as a game I might be interested in on the storefront; but there's no price and we can't purchase it.
