Gamersgate is aware of problem per its Facebook page. It is being worked on and more are getting through. It is now only confined to some, probably via region. Looks like a potential DNS problem. It is not someone's imagination, they do not seem to be going defunct.

(Original longer post if you care)
If you look at Gamersgate's Facebook page, you can see that it has been an issue for many of their gamers. For example, quite a few from Australia, some from Canada, some from the USA, seems that the West Coast of USA is ok, I think.
I'm leaning towards a DNS entry problem. Also in the thread on the Facebook page, a Gamersgate official says that they are aware of the problem (posted at least 7 hours ago), and that they are looking into it with their IPS, which if you check Wikipedia, suggests basically the domain name controller, or it could be that they misspelled ISP for Internet Service Provider.
At any rate, someone on Gog.com did a traceroute and said that it looks for Gamersgate.com and then gets absolutely nowhere from New York City, which suggests that the DNS entry (to my mind) is bad in at least the East Coast of the USA.
So the good news is that they are not defunct, are aware of the problem, and are working with others to fix the issue. They also post on the Facebook page that more and more of us are able to get through.
I appreciate the replies. Thanks for the help all. I'll update the thread when I am able to get through to the site. Hopefully, I'll be able to get to use, even though it has expired, my Autumn coupon with 20 percent off, the site has been down for me all the last 3-4 days. Either way, I'm glad they seem to still be alive and kicking.
I can only see that as a positive for Steam and gaming in general. But the thread has served its purpose, which is to inform gamers on Steam and elsewhere, of the situations with such sites and their sales/access.
Fear is a reaction, I merely asked questions, considered options, and then informed when I had more viable information. Praise be to Finland and dudes in general.
Thanks for the replies.
I just assumed that as people having problems with third party sites (like CSGO Lounge. Humble Bundle, etc...) are often told to ask somewhere else. Also, I could see it being in conflict as Steam makes money when you buy games from them not from other retailers that sell Steam activatable keys.
EDIT: It got moved rather than locked so I guess that's a good sign.
Also, most coincidentially unfortunate choice of website name in gaming history, probably.
What a coincidence, I'm on the east of the USA as well
Does changing to Open DNS or Google DNS help
Satoru, how would I change DNS settings, that I do not know offhand in Windows 7. I do recall something in the past about being able to force a DNS update somehow. But, I have not kept up to date on such things for well over a decade, and my knowledge was at best cursory at the time.
