Its just that i want this awesome series back :/
https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/nhl-2009/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition
They quit madden on PC after 08 too. I think EA could make it work considering the success of FIFA on PC, which was the only EA sports series on PC that they didn't discontinue.
Times have changed and PC is getting more attention. Lets hope the next set of sports games they make are for PC/XBO/PS4. If EA see that NBA2K15 does incredibly well, they might consider it.
If you´re bored, and got some friends to play with, it´s awesome to gather them and then get on a xx vs. xx game :)
I dont mind them to bring this only on Origin.
If it would only be playable i would be so glad.
But I still can´t figure out why they stopped to sell this.
Digital copies cost them way less money then retail copies.
And i dont think that porting it to pc would be so hard (Dark Souls is a different story)
The reason EA stopped making sports titles for PC (in my opinion) is because coding for the PC is difficult (because of all the different hardware configurations) and they noticed their target audience was for consoles. It helped them lower the workload for the devs and still made them a ton of money.
Now that PC is getting more attention and the audiences are more diverse than ever, lets hope they reconsider PC for their next installment of sports games.
EA is perfectly fine and have proved themselves over the years. they helped make star wars battlefront and the game is amazing. except for the fact that they arent adding anything from the force awakens. they have made truely impressive games for NHL. i dont even think you know anything about EA because you have said nothing to back it up. You have enjoyed EA games as much as any of us and you know it. NHL16 is insanely realistic and has a very nice community. the thing i like about the games ea has made is they have always tried to improve their games and make them better and by looking at the nhl series you can easily see that. even the players look so realistic and the physics are realistic.
i would play it 24/7. I love the nhl games that EA makes just i dont have the money for the console because i have put it all into upgrading my pc. the last nhl game i played was nhl 07. still a great game just i want the new players and the new uniforms and the online features and the community is incredible.
But why the hell there is no (paid) statistic update for some version of NHL for PC which wouldn't be so costly like new game...
And if there would be some incompability between various versions of game in multiplayer(and also to support new operating systems(which in console world is obvious, but paid)), then its easier to have mandatory upgrade to new version of NHL for PC for games, but in same mode(think like DLC version of game which wouldn't be so costly) and it pay money for servers...
Playing old statistics is not much fun, but game could be programatically changeable to deliver pleasure and there should be not so mess and if EA thinks this could canibalize its current console business, then should think again...
And a lot of could be doable by (paid) volunters (copywrighter) or more by official sport authority associations or make more advanced by current seasons not only in North America, but also to give option to make locally view of this popular game when NHL is not equal hockey in all parts of the world...
Paying for something also means, that current investment in game does not throw out of window next year when paying full sum for game, when there are voluntiers making statistic update(altough in some areas little problematic) seems strange for ME...
And if EA thinks that there is a lot of piracy out of console world, then why they don't support only MS Store and STEAM only(with possible keys in local stores in format STORE.KEY which whould mean where is obvious from where is KEY FROM)
