12 man special forces team trained (together) in hand to hand combat and self defense with years of combat experience (as a group) vs gorilla.
Who wins?
we all know that (corning) gorilla (glass) always break at a certain point. :)
It's only our ability to use tools and our intellect that make us more capable. We just aren't built to be beasts. Remember it's not brute strength that got us where we are today, it was the ability to outsmart other animals. Opposable thumbs help too I spose.
But yeah, without any kind of weapon I'd bet on the gorilla.
Are we talking about bodybuilders now, or the Borg?
It is just that touch of human arogance. We like to imagine that we are somehow superior to the other species on the planet. Oh, in intelligence, we have it in spades (maybe), but as for the rest, compared to all but the smaller predators (and including some of them) we are just naturally outclassed.
This post coult be changed to 12 bodybuilders versus a grizzly bear, and the results are going to be the same. 12 guys who are going to be very much having the worst day of their lives, and a very annoyed animal.
And then selecting bodybuilder. Good lord. And this is one you are all going to have to look up. Bodybuilders are strong, no doubt, but only in certain ways. THeir muscle mass training doesn't build for endurance, it works core muscle groups for visible effect as much as strenge, leaving other sets of muscles woefully under developred. Look at those worlds strongest man competitons. A lot of them have large arms, and some solid definition, but they definately leave the bodybuilder ideal physique. Their center mass is often a lot wider and those visible muscle groups are far less defined, because they have developed different and very key muscle groups. A body builder has strength, those guys are STRONG.
I digress.
Gorilla wins.
