Grinding taking too long in Pokemon Leafgreen

Anybody know something I can do to make it shorter? I just beat Misty, but I still haven't attempted the Rival battle to the north of Cerulean. I have a Level 18 Ivysaur, 16 Pikachu, 16 Pidgey, 14 Mankey, 14 Geodude, and 12 Clefairy. I want to get everyone to level 18 before I do anything else. I looked up how to get the exp share, and I can't get that for a while now.

What should I do? Should I just fight my way north to get more powerful enemies to grind, or should I wait and grind on the weaker enemies east of the city? Or maybe something else?

just fight tougher enemies and wild pokemon, too bad they didn't have an audino type pokemon back in those days.

You have WAY too many pokemon for this early in the game. I'd keep Ivysaur, Pikachu, and Pidgey and just train those 3 up. Having 6 this early is pointless. Keep 3 until you beat the 3rd gym, then get 1 more, then beat another gym, and get another, and so on. Pokemon games is about pacing.
