Do i really NEED Java?!
Java update today..... Meh. Tried to update, Error message. "Uncompression of downloaded file failed" JUST LIKE LAST TIME. Last time it updated, i FINALLY got it to work, and now that theres another update, im getting the same error message.

Rather than stressing out about it, i asked myself this: Do i really need Java?
I dont think i do, here are the reasons why:
First of all, If your not careful when installing it, java is MALWARE
Second of all, You no longer need Java to play minecraft because of the new launcher (Which i have)
And third of all, every game i play via browser (Ex. happy wheels) uses Adobe Flash Player, NOT JAVA!!!

So in conclusion, i dont think i need java. One of my friends on here told me that Javascript and Java have nothing to do with eachother. So as far as Javascript goes, i should be good there too.

Javascript is already builtin to almost all web-browsers - Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc. It's all that's needed for most websites.

"Java is an Object Oriented Programming (OOP) language created by James Gosling of Sun Microsystems. JavaScript is a scripting language that was created by the fine people at Netscape and was originally known as LiveScript. JavaScript is a (very) distant cousin of Java in that it is also an OOP language. Many of their programming structures are similar. However, JavaScript contains a much smaller and simpler set of commands than does Java."

Java on top of that is just required if you run Java Apps. For most, you won't need it. Please note if you do and are on a 64bit OS, that if you are using both 32-bit and 64-bit IE, you need to download both 32-bit and 64-bit Java respectively.

It is best to manually download and install, as the web downloader might be blocked by system security. Also, ensure you get it from the original source. If a website asks you to install it, cancel and go to the offical website to do so yourself manual. Lots tend to phish / fake the Java plugin (downloading it from somewhere else) in order to hijack or infect your browser with malware.

To install, for example...
Go to: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Select "Windows Offline" and "Windows Offline (64-bit)", save to a download folder, then install from those by right-clicking the EXE files and selecting "Run as Administrator".

Once you have Java, it's critical to keep it up-to-date as possible as well. Due to it can create security holes and exploits regularly need to get patched up.

Yeah, i already know about Sneaky Ads. Azza, even if i do it that way, I still get the Error Message. I know this because of my previous experience....

Here are some pics of the error message: Here is the one that pops up first http://imgur.com/ndPGU30,ll8KSGk#0
And then THIS one, Pops up directly after i close the first one: http://imgur.com/ndPGU30,ll8KSGk#1

Depends on what you want to do. I hadn't installed Java in a year, then ran into a interactive website that needed the latest version of it. So my take away from it would be.. don't bother until you need it.

Well, just ensure all is closed before running... close web-browsers, steam client, etc.

If that still fails or getting blocked, you can try a Microsoft - Fix It:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en

Anyways, as the others said, it's becoming less and less used these days, don't worry too much about it, unless something needs it. Even Minecraft is moving away from it?

SUCCESS!!!! Combo of the Offline installer and having everything closed made it work! Thanks Azza! You the man lol
And yeah, Mojang released a new MC Launcher recently that doesnt require java! I have been using it ever since. Its pretty cool.
