You are a guy. He builds stuff. He shoots badly modeled enemies. He digs stuff. He dies. His replacement does the same.

You and possibly some friends are millitary recruits. You're mision is to explore the part of the world that was infected. Also, you must kill the dragons so they dont destroy your home base and the undead dragon spreads the infection. So its basicly armagedon. :)

My own story / Theory ( If you can even call it that ) Is you are a survivor that made it to a nuclear bomb proof safehaven, The spawn tower, before a world engulfing infection spreads. This is "Infection" was caused after mysterious meteors started colliding with the earth which contained alien life forms. However these meteors contained hazardous gas which spread rapidly, turning any humans that we killed in the armagedon into mutant flesh eaters. Reptilian creatures also were mutated by this, which effectivly became "Dragons". The spawn tower is sealed off from the rest of the world and has its own oxygen supply and is the only man made structure to survive the initial "apocalypse". However eventualy the oxygen inside starts running low. And you, the survivor, must leave the safehaven which has kept you safe for many years. However as you leave the blast doors shut behind you, there is no return. You are now in a world full of flesh eating creatures who would like nothing more than to tear you apart. You now build and fight to survive. The end! :D

Once in the age of man, cities spanned the Americas, then, the dragons came! They flew across the continent destroying cities and men, killing all who apposed them (This is evident by the amount of surface copper and stone, showing us that stone buildings fell and left behind scraps of metal across the continent due to wiring). The military tried to halt their advance, but every person killed "Turned". Once killed by a dragon a person would become an immortal zombie, one that would regenerate after being killed, but has trouble regenerating through hard materials such as metal and brightly lit areas due to their hate of light.

The reason they hate light is that since they were all killed by the dragons, they remember the blinding flash before the end, reminding them of their pain, and humanity. But the thirst for flesh will sometimes overcome this desire, and they will run straight through fire to catch their prey, and they will run off cliffs due to being blinded by bloodlust (See the portion of the game where they fall into the center of the earth via tracking you by a straight line). The human skeltons are of a darker origin, they come from the same source as the dragons themselves, Satan. (Example, how many dragons are there at hell? Very few, showing their reverance of the dark lord.) The greator majority of skeltons can only arise underground, showing that they to have a connection to hell itself. And thus have a hate of light, which reminds them of their days above ground.

Finally, the story of the players:
In the midst of this combat and desolation, the military had a sudden breakthrough! Utilizing the bones of slain dragons, they created an immortality device of their own, one that would save both the occupant and their clothing, while unable to save anything not directly attached to the player's person. (This is endurance mode and hardcore mode, where the majority of the story takes place) To create this tower, many dragons were slain by RPGs among other weapons of destruction. (Dragon endurance mode) Though essentially all the military was destroyed in this effort, they managed to save humanity, and made a lighthouse for lost souls. Where all humans who died after its creation would revive, and be able to continue to search for a way to stop the dragonopolise. Many of these remaining humans were only civilians, but they would have time to learn, enough time, all the time in the world... For they can never truly die, they're killed day after day, going a little bit more insane, which creates...

The aliens: -

The "Aliens" are actually military generals, who watched too much anime, and went insane and began cosplaying as aliens. Using mech suits and stealth technology, they created "Alien" compounds. (This is why they have high tier gear such as diamonds and the like) They also created defective Single person towers of immortality, however, in such a small state they cause any user of these blocks to go insane similar to zombies. But in more of a "I wanna give you a bear hug way" (I did say they watched too much anime) then a murdering way.

The reason for the more difficult to kill zombies is due in part to the desolation of the area. Think about it for a moment, why does the most difficult region of the game flow with diamonds and gold? Because that is where the majority of cities were!! And the reason the zombies are so hard to kill is because there would have been plenty of armor for the defense of cities. Though some may be weaker or stronger, most people in the cities had some form of armor. The ones in the center were essentially in juggernaut suits, though the zombies intermingled across the continent, most of the well armored ones stayed near the ruined cities.

Another reason for their great phisical resitance is that the military tried to halt the zombie/dragon/satan advance with "Tactical" nukes. These nukes through radiation inadvertantly caused a reaction inside of the zombies who were infected by dragons, and their minds and bodies broke into new levels of chaos. Allowing them to remain in the world longer before regenerating, and to be able to climb through soft metals (Excluding gold). Coupled with the scattered body armor, this populace is extraordinarily strong.

Now you may ask, well, why don't I see any buildings? Well, the answer is easily apparent my pupil, just how long do you think this battle has been going on, for trees to regrown in irradiated enviroments :Doomsday:___:Doomsday:

You are stuck here, forever bound by the cursed tower, unable to escape. Forced to build, fight, and hold off the zombie hoards, with absolutely no rest whatsoever. For all of time, you are stuck killing them, the same zombies again and again. For a tower made out of dragon bones is indestructible, and shall not fall. Perhaps this is what the dragons wanted from the very start, but that doesn't matter, for this, is...

OH BABY!
Well from what we know, the player is actually a SWAT member which can be found out through datamining. With dragons having massive cuts inbetween (ie dragon1.xnb, dragon9.xnb, et.c) we can infer that the area is somewhat of a home to the dragons. With "billboard.xnb" Commander Pootis is right in talking about cities. So we can guess that the player was sent in to contain the mess, but the dragons overwhelmed their team. As hell exists, some weird occult shizer created the undead. So that's my theory. The player was a SWAT member sent in to contain the infection, but Dragons and Demons overwhelmed their team. All the other members died, and turned into undead. The player is the one living survivor.
