The worst thing to happen to PC gaming in recent times is that phrase.
I'm quite sure they shouldn't.
Yes, you have stated you like gaming on both, but this article shows that the common claims are quite untrue.
Add in the fact that consoles now upgradeable with software (OS and drivers) and hardware (hard drives) and patching of games, it is no longer plug and play. Others above have stated other so called pluses to be quite untrue too.
I play both on PC and on Xbox and both have advantages. Like someone already said, if you buy a console game you can be sure it works. You don't need to worry about your specs or your drivers, simply put it in and play. On the other hand PC has the advantage that you can buy cheaper games more quickly thanks to key sellers or Steam sales. You can get cheap console games, too by simply waiting for the price to go lower or buying a used copy, but it may take more time before the game has an appropiate price.
About the modding, yes that's a big advantage of the PC, but it becomes less and less important in my opinion. I'm a guy who enjoys AAA games the most, but almost none of them allow modding anymore, so my opinon is that it is a good feature of the game, but you can't barely use it anymore.
1. Who does any type of serious gaming on a Mac? While there are quite a few games that support OSX, Windows is pretty much universally supported. When people talk about gaming PCs, they usually mean Windows machines.
2. "You have to spend a FORTUNE to get a gaming PC." Maybe you live in some country where PC parts are expensive, but my PC was maybe a little over $500 ($570 if you include the 2TB HDD I added recently) and it runs basically everything I want it to run on decent settings. I already had a copy of Windows 7 64 bit, so that isn't included in the cost.
3. Well, consoles also can fail, though you're right, on a PC you have to reinstall everything in the event of a catastrophic failure. Everything being digital has its advantages, though. For example, say your house catches fire. If you can save your PC (easier if you have a laptop or something), you will still have all your games completely intact. With a console, say goodbye to all of those discs. Hell, even if you can't save the PC, you still have all your games, just not installed.
4. PCs aren't particularly hard to navigate through, either.
Though consoles certainly are easier to understand, as you have much less freedom when using them.
That's because thinking is too hard for many people. You're too positive, i think assumptions lead to problems most times.
I own an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One.I don't own a PS4 and I have a laptop which i use for games that don't require a good PC to run. I don't dislike the PS4 like most Xbox owners.
And I don't see why there should constantly be a war on which is better and which isn't
PBS Game/Show did a good episode about that:

it's more or less just peoples being happy that their toy's is worth more then the other peoples toy's since they put more time and money in them , yeah I used the term toy's ... since computers are just that when they're used for entertairnment instead of any productive task.
I have a computers , it's not running all the games with great performance but it's still quite satisfy my need in term of entertainments ... , so even if PC master race was not even made as a joke I would not care for it at all , gaming for me is just a hobby that I like to spend time with when I don't have much to do.
