This is my tenative recommendation. It may have too much normality in it for you, but it is Russian, so it's all depressing, existentialist normality worthy of Dostoievsky. Best played with a fifth of vodka.
It may not be precisely what you're looking for, but it has its moments.

Has one of the best stories I've seen in a game, very complex, makes you wonder what's actually going on or if it's all just some delusion Alan is having.
You have to really pay attention to the story though.
People will argue for years about this but Dark souls is messed up.
The truth of the game is that it brings a type of story telling to the action genre and all the hipsters fanboy over the concept because it appears new. Its actually just the only action game doing it thus its the best... 1x1=1 not hard to figure out.
But its shallow story telling and cryptic vibe will land you some points if you dont expect to much from it.
Its also a decent game. The challenge 'hard or not' is overrated and anoying but workable.
Metro like mentioned above is great as well. Though I recommend Metro:2033 over last light.
Im not fanboying in the cliche '1 beats 2' way I LOVE last light. Im just saying 2033 is better for a first impression. LL is a little more action based.
You can also try Fallout. I recomend F3. Not sure if Im stepping a bit away from the concept you want though. In terms of Psycho ♥♥♥♥ its not really a game changer but it has its moments.
Point Lookout DLC has a trippy story and location too. Plus a little modding... or a lot... and your set.
PS:
Clive barkers Jericho. You can no longer buy it on steam which sucks but its good for a little phycotic rage.
Slender: The Arrival (a great stroll in the forest adventure game)
Outlast (play it at night, lights off, hardest difficulty. It's very relaxing game)
This War of Mine (a post war life with your friendly neighbors)
Alien: Isolation (make sure to have extra pair of undershorts)
It was at least an honest attempt, but it was far from really disturbing.
One I'm surprised nobody mentioned was "Silence Of Sleep"...( which I haven't played )
Spirits of Xanadu
Doom and Quak
Tomb Raider
Maybe Bioshock...maybe not.
The Fall
I'll look into it.
Its not really horrer. Its still very EA so I dont recomend buying it yet by default but this mission is probly perfect for you.

Its not really scarry cause the bots cant 'really' hurt you... that much. There still freaky as ♥♥♥♥ when they charge you in the dark.
The AI is narly too. Sometimes when I hit them with the light they run and hide, of corse when you follow them its game on or look away... ^_^
