Here's an interesting idea....
So I'm writing the plot for a game that I hope to make someday.
Since the story is a harem, I thought it would be amusing to make a rather unique use of a relationship system. The main character has the ability to absorb the female companions as 'data' and use that power in battle.

Basically a dating sim, where your interactions (and I mean everything) affects how they work together or even against you in battle.

Obviously the more compatible you are (you gain more affinity ala typical dating sim style) the stronger the abilities you get from combining with them become.

More than that, dialogue options you pick trigger different conversations within the battles themselves. Ranging from them 'getting' eachother to being at eachother's throat.

I feel like, if executed properly this'd be a great way to have choices in a dating simulator matter in the end. Since it effects your overall performance in the game.

Both characters stressed out about an SAT coming up? Battle movements become more jagged and straining.

Female character pissed off at a lewd dialogue choice, distracting arguments between the both of them until they sort it out.

Things like that could be both really challenging and really rewarding I think.

Had to add the point zero before that meme comes in.
ability to absorb the female.

what happens in battle if another guy you battle with decides to ally with you?
do you absorb him or does he absorb you? (either case, it's eeeewwwww!)

Absorb did make it sound kinda vulgar lmfao

Since the story is a harem,
Hey cool, we need more games set in Arabian Nights times.

...oh wait

I thought it would be amusing to make a rather unique use of a relationship system.
Go on?

The main character has the ability to absorb the female companions as 'data' and use that power in battle.
Stop it right there.

In this very turbulent era of video games, do you really think that's such a good idea? This is the English-speaking world we live in. Do YOU see pagodas outside your window?

How would this even work, anyway? Are they robots? Are they Digimen? Are they .gif files of monkeys drinking their own pee stored on a hard drive from Ghost in the Shell?

Basically a dating sim, where your interactions (and I mean everything) affects how they work together or even against you in battle.
Do you...know...how females act in real life?

Also, do you really mean...everything?

Obviously the more compatible you are (you gain more affinity ala typical dating sim style) the stronger the abilities you get from combining with them become.
...this is starting to sound less like a creepy Chobits thing (don't judge, only about know it from Retsupurae) and more like I'm in that part of Deviantart again. Are there special unlockable inflation and diaper powers?

Also, going on multiple dates doesn't make you compatible baka senpai, some people will just never have it.

More than that, dialogue options you pick trigger different conversations within the battles themselves. Ranging from them 'getting' eachother to being at eachother's throat.

It's a...oh, it's one of those...

Sounds like you need to play less of the bad Japanese games and more of the good Japanese games.

Both characters stressed out about an SAT coming up? Battle movements become more jagged and straining.
Better be these SATs,[en.wikipedia.org] esse.

Female character ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off at a lewd dialogue choice, distracting arguments between the both of them until they sort it out.
I'm pretty sure if I told a woman something lewd, she would throw her beer in my face. Or get a restraining order, whichever comes first.

Things like that could be both really challenging and really rewarding I think.
Hatsune Miku will never love you, she's just a drawing of a little girl on a piece of paper.

Better idea for a game: a first-person modern military shooter (running at cinematic 24FPS 900p) that takes place in the Middle East with a desaturated brown color palette, regenerating health, voiceovers from Bryan Cranston, and corporate synergy with Doritos. Written by David S. Goyer.

Only on Xbox One.

Let the slow clap begin. Bravo.
I think most of you are missing the point.
The female race are mostly female because gender wars are a very literal thing, as a result the men of their species are near extinct.

The 'absorbing' is literally the females(kind of hard to explain, imagine Cortana as a physical being) transforming into data, as in actual megabytes (It's science fiction bro, live with it) of information and combining that with technology of the male combatant is using, they 'share' a conciousness(♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, we need a built in spell-check) and can alter the weapon/armor to suit the situation. I suppose 'fusion' is a more fitting word than absorb, in this particular case.

It's about as sensible and convoluted idea as Bayonetta is, I don't see the point in debating how over the top/weird it is. Considering it's intended to be silly and convoluted in the first place, similar to Bayonetta.

I should also note that the story is a -parody- of the harem genre of anime, hence the dating sim mechanic actually affecting battle. (Think like if the social link dialogue choices you made in persona games actually affected your teamwork with your party members, kinda the same idea)

This isn't meant to be realistic, AT ALL, but that's half of the joke. That is of course aside from the writing and behavior of the female characters, the dating sim would be as realistic as possible.

I've played plenty of 'good' Japanese games, JRPG happens to be my favorite genre(Tales of franchise I'm particularly fond of) and rarely do I play the type you're thinking of. Hyperdimention Neptunia is probably the closest thing I've played to what you're imagining.

If you think it's some 'wish fulfilment' you're clearly missing half of the joke, as the point is to poke fun at that genre of games spesifically.(again, we need a freakin spellcheck for this forum!) I just thought it'd be amusing to have the dating sim bits actually affect combat.

And like I said, depending on the execution, it could be either really lame or really good, or both.

I'd also like to point out that the people questioning my age are behaving a bit more immaturely by comparison...just saying...

I think most of you are missing the point.
How so? I literally went down your list of features and examined it.

The female race are mostly female because gender wars are a very literal thing, as a result the men of their species are near extinct.
BEEN THERE DONE THAT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoZSmDgGEQE&index=37&list=PL2BBA1AB1CF53EEAC

(also, female is not a race despite what some parts of Tumblr might tell you. It is a sex. And none of that info was in the OP)

The 'absorbing' is literally the females(kind of hard to explain, imagine Cortana as a physical being)
What fanboys would want to imagine Cortana as physical? How will their weewees get hard without their blue skin fetish?!

(see also: Mystique, Hsien-Ko, Squigly, the Navi, Smurfette, and Jamie Foxx as Electro)

transforming into data, as in actual megabytes (It's science fiction bro, live with it) of information and combining that with technology of the male combatant is using,
Where to begin?
1. I thought they were female humans? You said they were the "female race" and thus biological lifeforms?
2. If they were robots or AI, then they wouldn't have sexes.
3. Do you even Human Genome Project? A person would have much more than "megabytes" of code, unless they were heavily compressed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEzhxP-pdos
4. Considering the above, perhaps monkey pee .gifs are the way to go.
5. You can't just say "science fiction" and expect everyone to accept it. That's how David S. Goyer writes stories...and look how they turn out!
6. If the females are at war with the males and the females want to make males extinct, WHY would they be subvervient to the ones they want to cleanse?
7. (forgot this last post) You mentioned characters taking SATs, meaning they're in High School (UGHHHHH), yet there's a war going on? Do you not realize that maybe with the presence of the latter, the former would be forgotten? As World War II raged on, the Wermacht lowered their standards to include children because Germany was literally running out of men. You think this kid[4.bp.blogspot.com] got to go to High School safe and sound every day?
8. What is even the appeal of this? Is it an erotic novel written for ASIMO? Woman programs getting absorbed by male programs? Tron Pron? Does JonTron watch Tron Pron? Would JonTron watch Tron Pron of Tron Bonne? I don't even...

they 'share' a conciousness
That's not romantic, that's the Futurama episode where Planet Express ship wants to merge her programming with Bender's.

and can alter the weapon/armor to suit the situation. I suppose 'fusion' is a more fitting word than absorb, in this particular case.
Hmm, interesting. Does this armor happen to be shaped like a skimpy, black-and-red schoolgirl outfit with a thong?

It's about as sensible and convoluted idea as Bayonetta is, I don't see the point in debating how over the top/weird it is. Considering it's intended to be silly and convoluted in the first place, similar to Bayonetta.
1. Bayonetta is an action game, the story doesn't matter.
2. Your game is a Visual Novel, the story is literally all there is.
3. A war that wipes out most of the male sex isn't silly, it's actually kind of horrifying and calls to mind the Holocaust. That's not funny at all, no matter how much Hogan's Heroes tried to make it.
4. Look up the Chinese population. There are literally MILLIONS of males who will die alone. It's estimated by 2020 (from a 2013 report) that there will be 35 million "extra" men. Stuff like what you're talking about really exists, and it's not 'silly'.
5. Relationships are meant to be an intimate and equal experience. When it isn't, it's usually tragic, abusive situations where one clearly wants the other for one thing only and is willing to hurt the other for it. Women getting sucked into men's life fibers like the Ghostbusters' traps is hardly equal and...quite the opposite of Bayonetta, actually.
6. An equal relationship for your plot would involve the man and the woman using their individual robot/human JPEG strengths to combine their powers while still keeping their own identities. They would be more powerful as two bonded together by love rather than one merged from two through dominance.
7. Bayonetta was designed by a woman.
8. At this point, it sounds like you're making it up as you go along. Congratulations, you're on par with most anime writers nowadays!

I should also note that the story is a -parody- of the harem genre of anime, hence the dating sim mechanic actually affecting battle.
And Tommy Wiseau also meant for The Room to be a parody...

VNs/sims don't have battles. That's why they're virual novels and not virtual "games". Hey wait, if they can make a pigeon dating sim, then you could make a monkey pee .gif dating sim! It is a parody, after all.

(Think like if the social link dialogue choices you made in persona games actually affected your teamwork with your party members, kinda the same idea)
I'm a grown man, I don't play video games with teenagers; except when I literally play video games with teenage noobs in online shootan. You think I want Chris Hansen telling me to take a seat? I play MANLY games like Chex Quest and Taco Bell Tasty Temple Challenge, thank you very much.

This isn't meant to be realistic, AT ALL, but that's half of the joke. That is of course aside from the writing and behavior of the female characters, the dating sim would be as realistic as possible.
You can't say it's not meant to be realistic, all art attempts realism in their own ways. Why do you think bad movies (and most anime *COUGH*) often get trashed? Because they often fail to live up to realistic standards like believable acting or special effects. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was noted for its incredible CGI realism in spite of the cheesy plot of primates gaining intelligence and taking over the world. The last Batman movie was trashed because the plot conveniences were too immersion-breaking and unrealistic compared to the first two movies.

...Actually no, I've got a better idea. Go look up the Hayao Miyazaki interview where he shares his thoughts on modern animators and you'll see why 'realism' is important (coming from the man who makes trippy spirit monster movies, that says a lot).

Also, you can't make the dating realistic when the end goal is to literally use those women as objects to strengthen their life fibers. There's a reason they were clothes and not people, OP. Did you even READ that one website's article about the censored Vita RPG? If they reacted like that from doing zero research (actual fans said in the comments that the "classmating" game was nothing like they said), what would you expect them to say about a game where the thing is literally the thing and then thing happens?!

I've played plenty of 'good' Japanese games, JRPG happens to be my favorite genre
I don't see Contra, Super Metroid, or Lethal Enforcers on your resume, ergo...

BTW at this point, JRPGs generally are seen as "the bad Japanese games". Just ask noted Steam freeaboo "TheUSGuy425" (yes really, 'The US Guy'). The one exception seems to be "Charles Barkley's Shut Up and Jam Gaiden".

and rarely do I play the type you're thinking of. Hyperdimention Neptunia is probably the closest thing I've played to what you're imagining.
Well gee, considering your whole premise sounded like a mishmash of spooky scary otaku fiction, was it really a stretch to assume that? Especially when you mentioned dating sim stuff involving the Vulcan mind meld and women as literal objects?

As bad as that weeaboo's Kickstarter game was, at least he made the characters in their mid-20s...even if they were still drawn with little girl faces.

I'm not going to even comment on that last bit, other than that game being the poster child for negative anime fan stigma nowadays.

If you think it's some 'wish fulfilment' you're clearly missing half of the joke, as the point is to poke fun at that genre of games spesifically.
If I wanted a 'wish fulfilment' game, I would just buy Shantae and the Pirate's Curse by WayForward!

Embark on a brand new adventure with Shantae, the hair-whipping belly dancing genie. When she loses her magic, Shantae must team up with her nemesis, the nefarious pirate Risky Boots in order to save Sequin Land from an evil curse. As a pirate, Shantae gains new weapons to advance her quest, slay monsters, battle epic bosses…and hopefully get her magic back in the bargain! But can she really trust her deadliest enemy?

The third Shantae game is the biggest yet! Beyond Sequin Land lie cursed islands and labyrinths each hiding a new piece of Pirate Gear - Flintlock Pistol, Pirate Hat, Scimitar, Risky's Boots, and even a Cannon. Upgrade Shantae's hair and weapons or unlock advanced Fighter's Moves. Locate maps, return lost Heart Squids, collect rare loot, and laugh out loud at the weird, wild, and wonderfully humorous cast of characters. Incredible high resolution artwork, unlockable Pirate-Mode, multiple endings, and an unforgettable soundtrack make this one game you won't want to miss!

Now on Steam for $19.99!

Nobody said the words "wish fulfillment", BTW, you were the one that brought them up.

And like I said, depending on the execution, it could be either really lame or really good, or both.
Well it's anime, so...

I'd also like to point out that the people questioning my age are behaving a bit more immaturely by comparison...just saying...
If you're 18 or over, there's kind of laws against what goes on in most animes if they were real people...even in Britain and Canada!

PS you need to watch less "am I kawaii uguu~" crap for closet pedos and start watching animes like these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTDy8XVdRSk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sei4BaKQBr4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xlb65hp4lo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zDfxZ4NcE

Moral of the story:
Kill La Kill would be a lot worse if it starred a schoolboy, and Bayonetta would be a lot worse if her sexuality and power were in subservience to a man. Hideki Kamiya himself said he got mad at hentai where Bayonetta wasn't the dominant one!
