Upgrade PC specs

Hi there

For the newer (especially open world games that are CPU intensive) games I'm in need of a (couple of) upgrade(s).

I currently own a Acer Aspire M7721, what probably is already an 6 years old system.

Through the years I obviously have upgraded some parts, so here are my specs:
Motherboard: Acer FX58M
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 12GB DDR3 (2x4096MB 800 MHz Crucial & 6x1024MB 667MHz Hyundai)

My CPU really is in need of a upgrade, but I know I have to upgrade my motherboard aswell.

Does anyone have tips on what I should do? Suggestions for a new system (but that seems unnecessary since I've made alot of upgrades) but a motherboard that is compatible with all my parts would be great. Don't know if I should upgrade my power supply either.

If I were you I'd just move all the parts you want to keep to a new rig. Get a fresh start without spending too much money, plus not having to worry about a 6 year old system haha. It'll be worth it in the end, plus it'll last you a lot longer. That's what I ended up doing with mine.
