Anything screen recording software better then hypercam ?
hey guys
ok so story goes like this

i recently recorded a game i was playing (tibia) in the case,
i spent a few hours hunting nightmares solo,
finished recording and want try upload the video to my youtube account,
only problem is,, it is/it was going to take 900+ mins to upload
(im going to put that down to virigin media and its CRAP upload speed =/...)

anyways cant remember where i saw it but if memory serves i think i remember reading
that hypercam isn't that great because it makes files bigger then they need to be
like add xxxxxxxx mb's or something like that for like a 2 hours long vid,

i've heard fraps was good, but i cant/dont play tibia in full screen,
but with fraps i cant make a custom size window that i can with hypercam =/

now i was wondering if you guys/girls could recommend a decent screen recording software

that ideally
doesn't make super sized files, and allows me to do custom size windows to record

also, ideally i'd MUCH much prefer free trust-able software,,, but if it boils down to it, ill pay for a decent screen recorder :)

so if you could recommend the best free screen record software, and the best paid for one
i'd be EVER so grateful

I use Fraps, as PlayClaw is a little resource intensive, no matter how many fixes that are put through it.

There is also a cheaper alternative called Dxtory, that I used for a while after it was introduced. Uses a lot less resources, but hangs up once in a blue moon. Liked it.

I think I've used CamStudio before. Dunno if that's still around.

You might need to play with the settings, but honestly you should always play with the settings first to figure out how to best use stuff.

mm just tried camstudio,
but ill pass on it
was only on the install stage and was already having issues with it

first norton popped up deleteing it saying it had a trojangen2 in it
then when i excluded it, norton popped up again telling me it blocked it from access the internet,,

lmao... when a program like that trys to access the internet,
it throws up loads of red flags,,,

i can understand some programs that actively use the internet requesting to connect to the internet.
i.e steam and steam games, tibia and so on...

but for a simply program like that, that should never need the internet,,
HA... not a chance in hell...

as much as i was hoping not to pay for free recorder software,
my current choice is going to be Fraps paid for version
(hopefully that will allow me to record at least 2 hour long videos...?)

but if anyone can recommend better software :D
your opinions are more then welcome <3
I thought CamStudio is open source, even. Weird.

it is ,,, i guess lol
but if a program not only pops up with a virus when i download it, and gets blocked when trying to install

HA not a chance
