Try this, visit the offical Microsoft website and run this "Microsoft Fix It Tool":

That will correct issues with your Windows registry in regards to that issue.
Then search the website for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2005 SP1, 2008, 2010, and 2012. Install them all in order, they will layer over the top of each other and various games (depending on age) require components of each one. Since your 64 bit, you want both 32 bit (x86) and 64 bit version of each. I know this might be a lot to install, but you should already have quite a bit of it and it's only required once, then all games should be happy to run.
