Aliens Vs Predator 2 won't run on my 64bit windows 7!
I have tried everything I can think of and I hav not been able to play this after my OS upgrade fro XP some years ago. (CD Install and patched)

I even tried running from a batch file rather than using the avp2.exe launcher and got that damn "Client MFC has stopped working" message.

my Specs: (If that helps)

ASUS Z97-k Motherboard
i7-4790K @4.0-4.4Ghz
16Gb generic 1,333Mhz DDR3 RAM
Noctua NH-L12 Low profile Air Cooler
Gigabyte Geforce GTX760 OC Edition with windforce cooler and 4Gb GDDR5 RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) SP1
Latest Nvidia Display Drivers
27" ASUS VG278 120Hz 3D Monitor with Nvidia 3D Vision 2 (3D Disabled atm)
Logitech G710+ Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G502 Proteus Core Customizable Gaming Mouse
Logitech F710 Wireless Controller
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Flightstick
Antec 600w PSU
Generic Baby Tower Chassis

EDIT 19-10-2017:

Only DGVoodoo seems to get the game to run but the visuals are so glitched the game is unplayable. I have officially given up on this title and hope it gets a special steam rerelease compatible with modern systems like AVP Classic 2000. Thanks for your assistance over the years, but this game won't run for me on more than one system with 64bit Windows 7.

My NEW PC Specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64bit on Kingston HyperX Fury SSD (120Gb)

that page only says to run in win 98 compatibility and to run as admin. this and everything else I googled simply won't work on my rig. The same issue happened with Blood 2 - The Chosen and Shogo - Mobile Armor Division those 2 games are working with DGvoodoo2. However AVP2 while it starts with DGVoodoo2 the graphics are so corrupted the game is unplayable.

that page also said to disable HID Devices and I can't do that as my keyboard, mouse and controllers are ALL HID and I won't have a keyboard or mouse if I kill them in device manager.

Here are a few different methods. I,m not sure if you've tried them but i can't think of anything else. The only thing i can think of is have you tried the Aliens vs. Predator game forums they maybe able to help. Sorry & good luck :(

there is a fix for it but it gets worse the more o.s versions you go

Let me explain how....

in windows 7 you have to run the game in compatibility mode for xp especially on 64 bit versions of the o.s you will also need to be updated to version 1.0.9.6 the last updated version for alien vs predator 2.

in windows 8/8.1/10

it gets tricky and some what illegal there will be no links posted here or where to get it from so don't ask at all.

Basically windows 8/8.1/10 don't like macrovision encoding process which I am sorry to say is what alien vs predator 2 uses to verify if your game copy is legal or illegal and prevents the game from launching.

the servers for the game are shut down so there is no online play through the internet anymore

but on windows 8.1 and windows 10 you have to use a no cd patch because it bypasses the macrovision encoding they used on the game allowing the game to run on windows 8.1 and 10

and no I will not tell you where to get it nor post site links

and before you judge my information posted here on steam this is fact for all games that support macrovision encoding you cannot run them on windows 10 without a no cd patch thank Microsoft and there new drm garbage

Thanks very useful, trying this out on Windows 10 for a LAN Party but it ran once and only once, have applied multiple NO-CD Options, but lithtech.exe is always triggered and fails.

It would have to be reworked to run on systems above windows 98/XP to be released on Steam.

Frustrating as AVP 1 got the rework for modern OS, why not AVP 2?

AvP2 runs on my Win10 64bit machine. Avp2.exe and lithtech.exe in compatibility mode XP/SP2 and run as admin.

lucky you. I still can't get the game to run. The game is also incompatible with Dgvoodoo2 as with that wrapper it loads up but the game is a mess of corrupt graphics rendering it unplayable.

You can always try dual booting. I'm too lazy to look up the cost of XP on Amazon, but it can't possibly be very expensive.

I wonder if XP can even be activated anymore after Microsoft dropped all support.

Good point. I know a lot of retro gamers talk about putting 9x on their machines, so MS either still let's people activate obsolete OS's, or it's easy to run them without activation.

maybe they use dodgy software to make the old OS act like it's activated?

I did a bit of googling and saw a forum from January 5'th that said XP can still be activated by phone. As for 9x, it's hard to tell, but it seems that it only needs an offline CD key.

Try to start the game in low resolution and low detail. Once started you can try a higher resolution. 1024 x 768 / 32 seems the best choice for me.
