I just failed my first Organic Chemistry test...
Hey guys, so I just took my first Organic Chemistry test today, and I felt pretty good walking out of it... turns out I got a 39/100, and the average was around 55... I was an entire standard deviaton below the mean. I feel so sad, and I may actually start crying over this pretty soon. Here in college, one test is worth like 1/4 of your final grade, so this really screws me up... :/

Aye lad, everytime, eh?
I'm just all like "Alright, gonna ace this math/English test..."
*Two days later*
10/25.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
That really sucks dude, I'm sorry to hear that!
Now would be a good time to reflect on your studying methods prior to that test. Did you study enough, what was the atmosphere in which you studied in, how were you studying to retain the knowledge? I'd definitely reach out to your professor or a counsellor and see if you can find a tutor, if you find your studying methods are effective but you simply aren't grasping the material. That, or study with some friends who scored better on the test, they might be able to provide you with new studying methods you may not have tried before. I completely understand what its like to have a test worth a huge chunk of your grade, but don't let the stress from this test result affect you from your future studies. Depending on where you're studying as well, you might be able to ask the professor if there's any extra work you can do to help improve your grade. If that isn't possible, try to use this test as a learning experience for your future tests. If you do very well on your future tests, this test will only be a miniscule dent to your final grade. Keep your chin up!
I know what you mean man. I do online school and one test is a big part of grade. But i've noticed something, when i think i'm going to do very bad i get at least 85 of 100, if i think i'll do good i'll get like 30 of 100. Funny huh?
I be
"I ain't going to pass this history exam"
Then I be
"I got a B. Ayy!"

It's just that I walked out of there thinking that I nailed it, and then bam, I see my test score...

It is all about recognizing where you went wrong and understanding that some professors are just ***** and want to make you run the gauntlet to pass their class. You can pick yourself back up and still pass. Make sure to take advantage of study groups.. they will raise your chances of passing exponentially. Organic Chem is tough as **** don't beat yourself up too much. If you can honestly say that you tried as hard as you possibly could, studying every single chance for hours and hours, notecards, whiteboard notes, tutoring, study groups, office hours, etc... then just know that the next semester when you take it again.. you will be bad*** and pass it well. It can happen man. Blow off some steam, put it behind you, get your mind right and prepare for the next battle.
I contacted my instructor about a tutor. I just can't believe that I did this poorly...
Change your nickname, it's not bringing you any luck.

Or read the text book your class is using in advance.

Do you really think I didn't read the text book? I've been reading and taking notes on this thing all winter break and this semester, writing down every thing the professor said in class, doing practice problems in the book...

Did you check the rubric? I assume there must be some sort of rubric for the test.

Well did you ask the Professor why you were failing and how to improve? Maybe it's something to do with the way you work that you are unaware of?

I don't know, there's a solution for sure.
