Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne Multiplayer help

I've been wanting to get into WC3: The Frozen Throne multiplayer (multiplayer matches and stuff), but I heard the community is rough once you get into the PVP (That and I've already played a match and got yelled at a lot before dying a few minutes in.), so I'm looking for someone who can teach me the ropes. I prefer playing Undead or Human, but I enjoy Nelf as well. Can't stand the orcs, though. I know there are a lot of youtube vids, but I'm more of a hands-on learner. Can anyone help me? It doesn't have to be the "pro" stuff, just basic tactics and the build orders and such. Thanks for the help! :D

PS: I have a microphone, but it's not a good one. (It's actually a camera, and it picks up everything in the room (and some stuff in the other rooms,)). According to my friends, the audio sounds fine, but as I said, it picks up EVERYTHING, and my house is very noisy.

Ditch your mic, and friends. Play 1v1. Come back and thrash your friends.

Orc is a good start for 1v1, most micro heavy would be Nelf followed by human.

try 1 human (you) versus 2 AIs, then 3 AIs, then 4 Ais to 7 AIs.
