You don't need a reason to unfriend someone who is in your friend list. Sure, you can tell them the reason before removing them, but that is very likely to cause unnecessary drama. And if you have been friends for a very long time, you could try to talk things out (unless there can be no way to compromise, in which case, unfriending is the last resort).
